Can you hear her now? The black & white film makes it look more spooky.

I saw this too. I like to believe in the real world, so I'm trying to think what it could be.

She is not scratching her ear. Or listening to a radio since radios are much larger at that time. Maybe is one of those old school music box.

But her motions appears to be in a conversation.

My conclusion. Woman with a music box to her ear and singing the song out loud. It's her personal Sony Walkman back in the 1920s.

It couldn't be a cell phone as the article states. For one thing there would be no support for such a device in 1928.

"Clarke thinks the only plausible theory is that the woman is a time traveler." Oh, those wacky Irish filmmakers...

Mystery solved.........and I have to ruin my patriotic 1776 post count to debunk this nonsense.

I am a former Madrigal and Acapella singer (second tenor). It is quite common for singers to put one or two hands to their ear to block out extraneous sound so they can stay on pitch. I did it all the time. The person is simply singing with their hand over their ear that is facing the street to block out street noise.

Clarke is a shameless self-promoter. Clarke is talking about "butch" women......he looks a little effeminate to me and I think he is wearing a merkin to man himself up.

    Matapule, Clarke's not "a merkin" --- he's "oy rissh."

Darn - a logical answer. I really liked the time traveler explanation

A time traveler means she's human. She could be an alien.

Idiots! This is OBVIOUSLY the Wicked Witch of the West (did you see her pointed feet, misshapen nose, black clothing?) It was merely a walkie talkie, with which she was calling her flying monkeys.

Would a time traveler being able to stop the Coronavirus pandemic last year upset the order of history like you see in sci-fi movies?
