Has anyone seen The Killing on AMC? It premiered this past Sunday (Episodes 1 and 2). I missed it, but watched it online last night. This looks like a winner.
This production is based on the hugely popular Danish television series Forbrydelsen, which then got picked up by the BBC (with subtitles) and became a phenomenal success there. It’s now spreading to other European countries. AMC, which has a history of producing quality series (The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Breaking Bad), remade the series and moved the scene from a bleak and dreary Scandanavian city to Seattle. It’s gotten very good reviews, including one from The New York Times.
This is a very atmospheric thriller, with terrific acting all around. While it did remind me a little of Steig Larsson (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), it reminded much more of Twin Peaks.
If you’re interested, re-runs of the first two episodes are scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday) from 6-8 p.m., and again from 10:30-12:30. The series runs every Sunday. Or you can watch it online.
