It does tie in with what I have heard about hypocrisy in the Middle East. Kind of like drinkin in the dry jurisdictions down sauth. Big shots in the Mideast drink or take drugs of various sorts fairly freely, but behind closed doors, it isn't talked about in public at all. In public its all piety. Its like what Orwell identified as Double Think in "1984". The priest urges his congregation to prohibit spicy magazines or abortion or divorce and at the same time has no problem boinking choir boys in the rectory. The only amazing thing is, the audience always ALWAYS falls for it, even when they themselves are also drinkin on the side or boinking God only knows who or what quietly, secretly. Its institutionalized hypocrisy. With Double Think there is nothing that makes it physically impossible to accept two mutually exclusive thought systems, you can call yourself a devout Christian or a devout Socialist and crush, mercilessly exploit other people. So it is with devout religious leaders of any stripe condemning the sinful life of Times Square or Vegas while at the same time enjoying the very naughty pleasures they are condemning.

There has been an economic effect from the killing of bin Laden. With Al Qaeda seen as a destabalizing influence near oil supplies, futures traders have dropped the price on oil as the supply seems a bit safer. Precious metals have dropped because they are seen as a hedge against uncertainty and with a bit of uncertainty lifted, demand for them has dropped. Its rippled thru some of the commodities markets. And now some traders with exposures need to sell to cover their positions, others are starting to get concerned and aren't playing in the bull market any more. But take heart. Sooner or later something horrible will happen and the economy will be saved. I wonder if we tax payers will get to bail out the speculators again.
