  • The Vegas Republican Debate

I found the Republican debate from Las Vegas last night very entertaining. A couple of times it looked like Romney and Perry were going to come to blows. The most astonishing moment was when Michelle Bachman joyously announced that nursing home care in "Obamacare" has been dropped because its too expensive. Meaning underfunded, deliberately. The audience cheered and applauded rapturously. Talk about pulling the plug on grandma! And just a few days ago the news that nursing home care averages over $72,000 a year. So once your family is bankrupt grandma is out in the street. And the Republicans were ecstatic. Its so much more important to give tax cuts to billionaires, after all, they are the job creators. Granted, those jobs might be in India and Dahomey but they are jobs. Granny will be dead soon anyway, she won't be voting, let her die. Awesome.

Bachmann is flailing even more now that she knows her candicacy is just a freakish footnote in history, along with her future failed attempts. She's exposed herself badly.
Willard Romney committed a cardinal sin by touching Perry, and to Perry's credit he maintained.
But the insanity of virtually the entire repub/tea critter's mindset is on national display as they cheer their own demise. The only bummer is there will be no more expose's until November. The more they gleefully bare their destructive attitudes the better.
Huntsman, the only viable candidate, isn't even on the program, and ya can't tell the players without a program! These kooks are making the newt look positively kingly.

How did one of America's great political parties get hi jacked by these kooks? I mean you once had perfectly rational Republicans who "got it". You could disagree with them on technicalities but the basic mission was the same, to get the country thru the storms of history. Eisenhower was not perfect, but he was a sane man, he would have soooooooo kicked congress's okole if they'd played that ridiculous debt ceiling game. Even Nixon started the EPA, that was reasonable, you do not want millions of people getting sick needlessly, you DO have a responsibility to future generations to not turn over a toxic waste dump to them. Dirksen, not perfect, Rockefeller, not perfect, John Lindsay, not perfect but sane. Gov. McCall of Oregon, as fine an environmentalist as there has ever been, enthusiastically supported by Republicans and Democrats alike. What happened? The Koch Bros? Was that it? These activist wacko billionaires and their teapot show--or was the die cast earlier when Gingrich said to run on hate, and by puke like Limbaugh pushed by the radio industry?

When you have lifetime career politicians that will do anything to maintain their grips on power and political incest, it breeds corruption beyond belief. And when it's largely done in the dark and then laws are passed to aid this, and we watch half the country supporting it, it becomes a monster. How do you fight it without marching in the streets and making scum like Glenn Beck scared? Occupy WS is the first and hopefully the last uprising we'll need to get'r done.
