LOL The first time I saw Skylar audition I thought of Reba too. They both have *no* lips. (Actually Skylar does when her mouth is closed, but as soon as she opens her mouth her lips disappear.)
Speaking of Reba, she's co-hosting the Academy Of Country Music awards show on CBS tonight. Always lots of terrific live performances. Included in the nominees are two American Idol winners -- last year's winner Scotty McCreery is up for Best New Artist and Carrie Underwood is up for Female Vocalist Of The Year and also for Vocal Event Of The Year for a duet she did with Brad Paisley.

I forgot to add another AI alumnus, Kelly Clarkson. The ACM show is on right now and Kelly and Jason Aldean just won Single Of The Year.

UPDATE: It's 15 minutes later and Scotty McCreery just won Best New Artist.

    Good show last night.
Deandre was very good. In the past he sang falsetto all the way through, and a lot of mainlanders can't relate to that like we can over here. But last night he sang a lot in a lower range and used the falsetto just for highlights. Smart move.
Jessica and Joshua knocked it out of the park again. And last night there were duets and Jessica and Joshua were paired up. Also very hot! These two are so much better than the rest of them.
Colton did really good, and Skylar had her best night yet. Not good enough to win, but good.
Phillip and Hollie were both so-so and were both pitchy. Elise was also so-so but at least not pitchy. Hollie was better, but she was pitchy.
My guess for the bottom 3 tonight would be Elise, Hollie and maybe Skylar, and I think Hollie will be the one to leave.

Lots of buzz about the Nike "spot" that aired on AI last night - it runs 2:31 - ansd is being described some places as a 'short film.' Must have cost two bundles - one for production, one for buying air time.

Two out of three. The third one wasn't Skylar, it was Deandre.
Hollie was the first one safe, so the bottom two obviously were Deandre and Elise.
    Sadly, Deandre is gone.

Down to the final 7 last night.
Jessica Sanchez is still miles ahead of the others and getting even better every week. Amazing voice and shows no effort in doing it. She's close to Carrie Underwood in being the only one that good. And at only 16 she has the whole package, not just the voice but the look, the stage presence, the works.
After last night, I think Elise, Hollie and Phillip will be in the bottom three tonight and I think Elise will be leaving.

I'm surprised that nobody commented on last Thursday's results show.
Elise was indeed in the bottom three but in an absolute shock so were Joshua and Jessica, easily the two best on the show.
Clearly so many people figured they were so good that they didn't need to cast votes for them. That was proven by Joshua being the first one safe, then Elise.
Jessica had to sing again to see if the judges would use their save on her, and she didn't get more than one verse into the song before all three judges ran up to the stage and of course used their save on her.
I haven't been voting, but probably will starting tonight.

In other AI news, it's being reported that The Voice has passed AI in the ratings. Interesting. Part of the claim is that it's because the judges on The Voice are much younger than the judges on AI.

Last Thursday's results were a surprise. In the bottom 3 were Hollie and Elise once again... and Colton was the shocker.
Elise was the first one safe, so between Hollie and Colton the one voted off was... Colton.
We'll see what happens tonight and tomorrow night.

Last Thursday was predictable. Hollie and Elise were in the bottom three again. That was four times for each of them in the bottom 3.
Skylar was the last one in the bottom 3 and the first one called safe.
Elise was the one kicked out. Don't know how she lasted this long.
Hollie should be sweating being the next to go.

Why isn't American Idol taking care of its past contestants? Past sports players have a pension.
