Now days, you need an advanced engineering degree to figure things out. And even then, it might not work.
TV setup in the pre-cable era wasn't always so straightforward. Typically, one had to manually fine-tune each channel. Even later transistor sets that featured automatic fine-tuning sometimes had AFT circuits that didn't quite lock-in to the clearest, crisp picture.
