  • Incredible art heist!

Paintings by Picasso, Matisse and Monet worth millions stolen from Dutch museum in one of biggest art heists in history!
Bet it included 'inside' staff to get away with this.

The biggest theft from the Bishop Museum was back in 1994.
The particular collections building was being tented for termites/bugs and through investigation it was decided that the 'Ka'ai' was removed sometime before the insecticide was pumped in. And had insider help! No... it wasn't me.

THE KA'AI -- The strange disappearance (theft) of two 500-year-old sennit-wrapped sets of bones of important Hawaiian chiefs, taken from Bishop Museum in 1994.

The last time I visited Hilo was spent looking at local

    historical places.

The spot across the outlet of the river from the Gymn has a large number of

building blocks that may have been used for a dock for trade between

    North Hilo and South.

The Wailuku river has numerous brooks.

Did they also steal the painting that was retouched by a church volunteer to look like Curious George?

I figure since the paintings can't be sold to other museums for public display...
The operation may have been backed by some ultra-rich private collector.
Or possibly a ransom situation for their return? Hmmm.

Now, she wants to get paid for this because it's a tourist curiousity.

After a bit of research it appears that the stolen artwork is probably

going to be traded for amnesty from past debts in a nebulous

              underworld.

Which brings to mind where did all the hidden statues and other stuff

from the dry side of the Big Island go?
The great canoe valleys have seen many struggles for survival.

The symbolism of those carvings still defy imagination.

What or who inspired these carvings?
