  • Storing a banana after it breaks off from the bunch

This past Monday I purchased a bunch of 4 bananas. Normally I would eat one or maybe two of them at a time. This time around this bunch was sitting around until today when I attempted to break off just one banana but instead managed to break off all 4 in the bunch.

I ended up eating all of them but I was wondering is there a way to store a banana an extra day or two after the outer layer has been breached?

I just leave the broken-stemmed banana on the counter, and cut off about an inch from the break when I get ready to eat it, but usually not more than 1-2 days later.
Now run along and play, but don’t get into trouble.

Put um in the fridge. Some people don't like to eat cold bananas. Just eat it with cool whip or ice cream. Make a smootie.

I agree...the fridge. The peel will turn black but that doesn't affect the fruit. If ants or roaches have access to your kitchen it's best to not keep the banana on the counter.

Can you still buy a frozen banana at Disneyland?

Chiquita used to say (on TV),
"But never never put bananas, in the refrigerator; oh no no no!" [cha cha cha]

Helen...you can also peel bananas, wrap them up (saran wrap, baggies) and freeze them.
