We may try to do this in the next couple of months - the question is:

Any special preps necessary to paint over Vinyl siding that has been in place for 20 + years? Just to make clear, we're leaving the siding in place just want to 'refresh.'

Consult a professional. Last time we repainted, they did it all with a spray paint, which had some detrimental effects, like overspray where we didn't want it.

Next time, it's brush and pail.

Behr has some paints which include primer and paint in one! (A time saver), available at Lowe's.

Next time, I'm doing all wood with Penofin stain.

      GO TO SHERWIN WILLIAMS!

I SUGGEST YOU DO NOT USE PAINTS FROM HD, LOWES OR ANY OTHER

      HARDWARE STORE.

Sherwin Williams has a good track record for industrial/professional paints.

Like all things, you get what you pay for. We were recently introduced to

Sherwin Williams SUPER PAINT and it is awesome. Pricey but AWESOME.

You will have to power wash or scrub the siding first.

If you use bleach, you will have to rinse the house thoroughly afterwards.
