  • Smooth Jazz really left Honolulu this time

It looks like "Jazz Nights" has been discontinued on KPHI 96.7 FM/1130 AM. That means Honolulu is completely without a Smooth Jazz outlet. I am a huge Smooth Jazz fan. HPR 2 (KIPO/KIPM/KIPH/KHPH) features "Nightside Jazz" from 8:00 to 10:00 PM, but it's traditional, straight-ahead jazz. HPR 2 also features "Echoes," which features ambient and chill music, from 10:00 PM to 12:00 midnight. But nothing compares to the Smooth Jazz sounds of Najee, George Duke, David Benoit, Art Porter, Wayman Tisdale, Kim Waters, Jackiem Joyner, Bob James, Boney James, David Sanborn, and Warren Hill.

<high 5> IBadget. I didn't follow smooth jazz when it moved to 96.7 because of the time it was on. I really missed KORL as that's all I listened to in the car. My first concern when it moved was what will that do to Michael Paulo's successful series of smooth jazz concerts. Time will tell, I guess. The next concert is July 6 at the convention center and I noticed one of the sponsors is KSSK.

    Oh...and don't forget Brian Culbertson!
