  • "The Flash" on the CW

The TV series The Flash started on the Fall 2014 season and is spinoff of the CW series Arrow. This series is also based on the DC Comics character The Flash with some changes from the Barry Allen version.

Changes in the TV series include:
    • Barry was in a coma for nine months afte being struck by lightning which gave him his powers
    • The lightning was caused by some kind of reactor at STAR Labs which ran into problems. Besides turning Barry into a metahuman that has superspeed it also created other metahumans with different abilities that somehow the Flash needs to deal with
    • Three people from STAR Labs also help Barry with his superpower and give support to his superheroing deeds
    • There is also a background story line where Barry's mom was mudered by a yellow streak when he was young (I think it was 14 years prior to the series). His dad is jailed for the murder (the dad is played by the actor who did the 1990 CBS series The Flash)
    • Jesse L. Martin plays a detective named Joe West who raises Barry after the lost of his parents, who also knows his secret of superspeed but his daughter Iris (who is roughly the same age as Barry) doesn't.

The series airs on Tuesday night on the CW and some episodes are available on-line via the CW web site (which is how I have been watching this series).

Re: "The Flash" on the CW

The first season finale ended with a cliffhanger, with Central City about to be wiped out due to either an badly formed wormhole or this is what a time reset looks like.
