  • Old Time Radio Jingles

OK. So this might be a short thread. Since everyone went moi long time- But remember when the radio would have all of those old home-made jingles? I’ll begin with one:

Datsun-Datsun is the car for you. No matter where you try to go it will see you through.
For rugged reliability-for beauty and economy.

Datsun-Datsun is the car for you.
A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.

No one will ever see this post. No big deal-- but still!!---

Hoe do you get this on the regular thread?

The one from way back in 1970 or so that I remember was

      "It's a Datsun, It's a Datsun,

      D A T S U N" (spelled out)

The song was done to the tune "Na Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" by Steam.

I remember the jingle more for the times it aired on TV.
      I'm still here. Are you?

My point is that they were so clever. But they took some effort-unlike jingles of today that just steal a well known song from some artists estate that has the original artists-if they were still alive-crying uncle.

        Ajinomoto?

I don't know about the radio jingle, but I do remember the TV one:

          Aji-aji-aji-nomo-to
          A-ji-no-mo-to!!

How about Exchange? There is a short "reminder" youtube:
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf9W389NIqk

The Exchange it goes round round round
And down down down in your tum tum tum
Makes your mouth say yum yum yum
          It's that orangeade called Exchange
Now run along and play, but don’t get into trouble.

Here's another more than likely from TV... "You gotta buy more at the Wigwam Store.... WIGWAM!"

Wow. Orangeade! In those funny small blue cans. Forgot about that.

Then there was the Smythe The Smoother Movers ad with the hilarious song and water colors. It would be fun if a recording of all the old tv and radio jingles were made. I sure would buy one.

And also the KPOI Payphone Jackpot. They called me once but I was not listening and missed out on $54. Guessed exactly half--$27. And I usually was listening except for that time.

Leonards Bakery Orange Chiffon cakes? Gotta move back home I tell you but don’t know if I can afford it. That’s what drives most away from Hawaii. Economics!

Also--speaking of Ajinomoto--sometimes I toy with the people in Asian food restaurants around here that proclaim no msg in their food.

I request some msg in my food (“Please- sprinkle some Ajinomoto!") and they look at me with a puzzled look on their faces. I chuckle. I’m easily amused.
