  • Anthony Bourdain Returns to Hawaii

On Sunday, June 14 on CNN, Anthony Bourdain features Hawaii on his "Parts Unknown" travel show. I got to watch an advance screener of the episode, and I think he did a solid job:

I liked it a lot better than his visit with "No Reservations" seven years ago.

Anthony Bourdain shows a non-tourist side of Hawaii in 'Parts Unknown' on CNN

A spokesperson for HVCB said this time around it had been in contact with the producers last year, but ultimately the Parts Unknown producers came and shot on their own with no input from HVCB. It shows in the promotional material, where “Bourdain explores the other Hawaii, the one that those 8 million tourists don’t see when they descend on the islands every year.”

Anthony Bourdain's write-up of his visit:

"Hawaii is actually much, much cooler than we know. MUCH cooler. It’s both the most American place left in America (in the best and worse senses of that word) and the least American place (in only the best sense)."

        Great link pzarquon. Mahalo.

I recorded his Hawaii show last night but have not yet watched it. Will do so tonight. I enjoy Bourdain. His demeanor, his love of food of all kinds, and especially enjoy watching him travel the globe commenting on whatever comes to mind while chowing down good foods of all types.

        Lucky you live Hawaii--no?
A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.
