  • GOP debates '15

Jeb Bush came into the race as the odds on fave and so far has been handed $100 mil by his scummy pacmen since he's known as 'the smart one' in Bushtown yet he can't pull himself together at all with Trump whipping these GOP elephants all around by their tails (thanx Dick Adair!), and tonite (debate #2) he buried himself further with being wimpy and again claiming he knows one thing ''my brother kept us safe!''. Yeah, except for allowing 9-11, kicking the mid-East hornets nest, sending half a mil troops off to die for nothing, and leave us in a poisonous quagmire we'll never escape, plus giving us the Islamic State insanity, to name just a few highlites.
Trump stayed on top, while everybody else battled it out for a very distant 2nd. Carson didn't hurt himself terribly but he's going nowhere, just like the lower level best of the rest whom are fighting for the VP hopeful slot while the others are dead meat.
Of those that got more face time than others Rubio did well enuf and may gain traction as the rest fall out.
Fiorina will have a tuff time especially if she gains and then gets more scrutiny
Walker tried his new tact of being forceful and landed on his nasty face again, then pretty much shut up.
Christi got frisky but he's got tons of baggage to shed somehow and telling pot smokers he'll put them in jail ain't it. Toast.
The rest should be kept off the next debate main stage and sent to the shallow end of the pool with the other kids.
Funny how Lindsay Graham is the best of the bunch and yet can't even get his head up out of the shallow hole.
Gotta love Trump, he's hanging in there and messing with the GOP's head big time, especially with Trump accepting Reince Priebus' pledge that they will not run as an indie and will support the nominee, which means if Trump stays in and forces the nomination of himself then they're stuck to him. Hilarious, this is the best election season yet and it's going to get better for everybody but these conjobs.
Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders keeps gaining momentum despite Biden's goofing around, while Clinton skates along as cons keep scratching like hell to nail her on something or ANYTHING.
In recent Presidential elections it was the con's to lose and they've done gloriously, now the scale has tipped to favor Dems outright and cons are disappearing. What a shame...

      Re: GOP debates '15

New York Times columnist Paul Krugman argued Friday that all the GOP debate on Wednesday proved is that the current field of Republican candidates is dangerously out of touch with reality, and is more than willing to lie about it in order to win an election. By way of proof, he noted that the only candidate who didn’t spout economic fantasies was Donald Trump, and the only one seemed remotely sensible on foreign policy was Rand Paul, both of whom aren’t electable for a host of other reasons.
On Wednesday Jeb Bush claimed, once again, that his voodoo economics would double America’s growth rate, while Marco Rubio insisted that a tax on carbon emissions would destroy the economy. The only candidate talking sense about economics was again, Donald Trump, who declared that “we’ve had a graduated tax system for many years, so it’s not a socialistic thing.”
If the discussion of economics was alarming, the discussion of foreign policy was practically demented. Almost all the candidates seem to believe that American military strength can shock-and-awe other countries into doing what we want without any need for negotiations, and that we shouldn’t even talk with foreign leaders we don’t like. No dinners for Xi Jinping! And, of course, no deal with Iran, because resorting to force in Iraq went so well.
Indeed, the only candidate who seemed remotely sensible on national security issues was Rand Paul, which is almost as disturbing as the spectacle of Mr. Trump being the only voice of economic reason.
The real revelation on Wednesday, however, was the way some of the candidates went beyond expounding bad analysis and peddling bad history to making outright false assertions, and probably doing so knowingly, which turns those false assertions into what are technically known as lies.
For example, Chris Christie asserted, as he did in the first G.O.P. debate, that he was named U.S. attorney the day before 9/11. It’s still not true: His selection for the position wasn’t even announced until December.
Mr. Christie’s mendacity pales, however, in comparison to that of Carly Fiorina, who was widely hailed as the winner of the debate. Some of Mrs. Fiorina’s fibs involved repeating thoroughly debunked claims about her business record. No, she didn’t preside over huge revenue growth. She made Hewlett-Packard bigger by acquiring other companies, mainly Compaq, and that acquisition was a financial disaster.
But the truly awesome moment came when she asserted that the videos being used to attack Planned Parenthood show “a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking while someone says we have to keep it alive to harvest its brain.” No, they don’t. Anti-abortion activists have claimed that such things happen, but have produced no evidence, just assertions mingled with stock footage of fetuses. So is Mrs. Fiorina so deep inside the bubble that she can’t tell the difference between facts and agitprop? Or is she deliberately spreading a lie?''

There were indeed a number of blatant lie moments for the diehard conmen (and woman), seems they just can't help but be themselves, but Carley's inane rant over baby parts was over the top and SHOULD be her end, in any other day and climate it certainly would be, but these are strange days for sure. Pretty damn funny as well.

Another freakfest in about a month and a half, we'll see who is left for that one. Walker, nosediving from the center ring may be unable to keep going, while Fiorina will somehow survive. Pataki and Jindal from the wading pool will probably bail.

I think if Lindsay Graham sticks it out and keeps himself in check he could end up the only viable GOP nominee.

        Re: GOP debates '15

For what it’s worth, Rand Paul was (is?) my first choice for President since the day that he declared his candidacy. I don’t think his campaign has any momentum, and I don’t think he will end up winning. The good guys always finish last. Just like his Dad (Ron Paul, for the uninitiated). It doesn’t mean they are wrong.

I do wish Hillary Clinton would drop out, as we don’t need a president who is being investigated by feds and whose husband’s name is in the black book of a serial pedophile. Bernie Sanders is a much more honest and trustworthy candidate with a long track record of consistency (not to mention he is now LEADING Clinton in numerous polls).

On the other side of the coin, if neither Donald Trump nor Jeb Bush win the nomination, I think we will have avoided disaster. Still, other than Rand Paul, I don't think anyone on stage stood out as someone with the tools to be commander-in-chief of the USA at time when our country owes so much money, warning signs indicate the U.S. dollar could be replaced as the World Reserve Currency — rendering our money nearly worthless (Great Depression II).

We can’t be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans.

Geez, TuN, I didn't even mention Rand because he's one that came into this having absolutely 0 chance, due to all his words from years back that will be used against him to a deathly effect. Ironically, Rand was the only one on the big stage that sounded at all sane besides Carson who is as of this morning carving himself out of contention with his views, such as a Muslim can't be President, with more surely to come. In the end, it's Graham's if he sticks it out.

Sanders is the real deal but I'd vote for Clinton just to watch con heads explode endlessly. This will be a fun season, and as my other thread on the electoral state shows, there's virtually no chance for cons this time.

Donald Trump and Jeb Bush have the potential of being a great comedy team. But, who's name goes first in their title.

That’s a little extreme. Rand Paul, is, after all, the ONLY Republican candidate who has won ANYTHING this presidential election season. That would be the Michigan Straw Poll. There’s a contest that more close represents what the winning candidate has to do to succeed.

Oh, Donald Trump won a CNN poll? News media surveys don’t mean a hill of beans. Winning a national poll is like winning a Zippy’s “fill out this tiny little form with your name and phone number” contest. It’s a game of chance that simply depends on who the polling firm called, who actually answered the phone, and how the firm determined that those so-called registered voters were “likely” to vote. The way you actually win a primary is caucus by caucus, state by state.

We can’t be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans.

Carly has been exposed and exposed re the PP vids and she's still standing, how does this happen? Last week Chris Wallace nailed her and she fluffed it off and doubled down, Thursday, Stephanopoulos nailed her so she tripled down, today Chuck Todd nailed her and she quadrupled down, yet comes out of the wreckage dusting it all off. WTF? A majority of the country seems quite content to allow their ignorance on the issue to be used against them and be duped into losing in a huge way on this seriously important matter regarding women's health. We really are a country overflowing with idiots.
Also today, she goes whole hog in support of all things... torture, and showered Jose Rodriguez, the former chief of the CIA’s Counterterrorism Center who was Bush's torture czar and incredibly got away with destroying torture videos even after being ordered to preserve them, with love. And so far... no fucking problem.
Not that she has a chance in hell in '16, but, goddamn people!

This is taking silly season right into the depths of The Twilight Zone. Lucky there's a whole year to go.
And then Rand is just getting totally ignored by EVERYBODY, it's like the whole world has decided he's got less chance than all the rest, which is pretty true but kinda stunning watching him wallow below the homespun baffoon book hawking Huckabee with Santorum, Jindal, and Pataki.

Billary is maintaining her position in the polls despite the many nattering nabobs of pundit negativism towards all things Hillary, and her distance from Sanders. But Bernie's 38% (to Trump's 23) is a good sign for him with plenty of time to mollify public fears of the frumpy Nordic-style Socialist cuckoo bird with a real message and plan for recovering this country, if it's not in fact too late.
This is already proving to be one big standout Presidential run for the history books. Good gravy!

But as far as LOOKING Presidential, and for many that actually matters (therefore it does), this is once where Trump got it right.
Other than maybe TuNeL, I doubt any Paul supporters have delved that deep into his recent past to know he's a totally cooked goose. That he somehow can't know this of himself say's he's not Presidential.
