Seen on the freeway:
BONOBO - larger variant of the chimpanzee
A few more seen this week:
STRGZN - most likely "star gazing;"
TROY-15;
R3 KIDZ;
NAC NAC - could it be "knock knock?"
Seen this morning:
22NONA
And the nice lady driver looked much older than 22, so, you know.
I expect "22" is a very popular item here on vanity plates.

"YOHOHO".
Headed Ewa on H-1-- part of the Pirates of the Caribbean crew?

A couple more I saw last week:
WLD HWN (Wild Hawaiian);
GDIYUP (Giddy Up) - I think I have the right order of letters.
Then, there was a compact truck (looked like a Toyota Tacoma) with a camper top: 4 ULUA (no doubt a fisherman).
10QMOM
"Thank you, Mom"...?
Either that or a serious investor & parent.

Obviously, mom paid for the car! I wonder if it's the same household as the SUV I saw last year with 10Q DAD?
I did a search for his one, and got no hits. Sooooo....
2IN10Z
It took me awhile, going through all the peregrinations, to figure out that it meant, "Too Intense."

I have a vanity plate and am about to buy a new car. Does anyone know how that work? How do I transfer the vanity plates to the new car?
Ask at Satellite City Hall, they have the forms. If it's a car dealer they will usually do it for you. It's really no hassle.

Well don't hold your breath in anticipation of getting the plate anytime soon.
I filled out the form the first week of June and have yet to get them. There is also a question on the form that asks "is this for a gift" so by my experience
if it is to be a gift do it MONTHS IN ADVANCE!![]()
You must have the plates put into storage (at DMV) at your cost. When you buy the car the dealer will register the new plates (your DOC FEE's hard at work).
Once the new plates come in, the dealership will call you telling you to come down to have the plates installed (Big Island Honda will go out to your home or workplace and do it for you).
Once the new plates are on, you go to DMV, take your old personalized plates out of storage, and surrender the new plates at your cost.
Why is this important? Because when a new car is registered in the State of Hawaii there must be standard plates on the initial registration.
If you notice even on your existing car's registration, even though you had your personalized plates for a long time, the initial plates still appear on it.
Life is what you make of it...so please read the instructions carefully.
