Re: What's playing on your iTunes & iPod?

I listen to random tunes most of the time. Sometimes, I listen to whole albums, or many albums by the same artist. Depends on the mood. But for day-to-day real-life backtrack, I run randoms.

Re: What's playing on your iTunes & iPod?

Yesterday I had one of the radio stations playing all day:
SMOOTHJAZZ.COM - The Global Home for the Smoothest Jazz 24/7 - Live from Monterey Bay

Great station if you like jazz! I usually end up downloading some of the songs!

I often forget that there are a number of streaming radio stations that you can get through iTunes. And I think you can add radio streams to iTunes if it is not listed on the main menu. I know I have KTUH and Maui's Manao Radio added to my streaming list. I don't listen to the streams too often.

I just checked the smooth jazz you mentioned. They have a nice 128k stream and are playing Kenny G's "Songbird" right now. And now they have Dido's "Thank You" up... I never associated her with jazz.

Radio streaming was one of the first features other than playback and ripping of MP3 files that was offered with iTunes. I remember the OS 9x version had that too.

That's one of the things I like about that station...there's a little surprise every once in awhile; nothing along the lines of Axel Rose or Motley Crue, tho'...thank goodness (that's age related!)! I find that more and more I'm listening to streaming radio via iTunes when I'm home and saving the iPod for everywhere else.

Re: What's playing on your iTunes & iPod?

Fun thread, my iPOD is on it's way back to me (It stayed in Florida longer than I did!) But I can share some of who is on it, and it does run the gamut..

                Alot of Dave Matthews
                Jack Johnson
                Tim Reynolds
                Hapa
                Natalie Merchant
                IZ
                Grateful Dead
                Red Hot Chili's
                Gwen Stefani
Freddie Mercury (from his Barcelona Opera with Montseratte Clabell)
                Frank Sinatra
Secret Garden (songs from the soundtrack)
                George Benson
                Cake
                Santana
                Jackson Browne

OH and a public service announcement regarding iPods and the like...

Always remember to take out your earbuds if you are going to sleep on a plane. Flying home from Hawaii, I fell alseep with them in and the songs just kept on playing. I woke up to hear screaming!!! My eyes flew open, I looked ahead of me, and no one appeared to be screaming, (heart beating wildly in my throat at this moment), looked behind me, no one screaming, then realized I had the earbuds in and that I was hearing the beginning of a live Dave Matthews song and it was the crowd yelling at the concert!!!!!!
                PHEW!
                Honumel

I was wondering... do iPod users/listeners mix most of their music up or organize music into formatic playlists. I tend to go with my custom playlists.... 60s music, 70s rock, today's hot sounds, etc. What about everyone else?

My iPod lists reflect my moods:
I don't know why, but I love Cher & Madonna. So they make up one list. And most of them are just damn good dance songs to exercise to.

Then I have a soul list: Temptations, Theme From Shaft, Lenny Kravitz doing "American Woman," Sly & The Family Stone, Marvin Gaye, Sister Sledge, Pointer Sisters.

Then I have a favorites list: Hollies, Steppenwolf, The Who, Police, Eagles, Mott the Hoople, Sugar Ray, U2, Steely Dan.

Then I have a chick music list: Sarah McLaughlin, Sheryl Crow, Avryl, Enya.

Then I have an iTrain set for exercising and yoga. www.itrain.com

There's so much more room. My favorite iPod video is Christopher Walken dancing to "Weapon of Choice" by Fatboy Slim. Just makes ya wanna fly!

Oh, yeah. To answer Mel's question. I have all my music in playlists, by artist/album.

But much of the time, I listen to the music via shuffle at the top level of the ipod. But when I feel like listening to a particular groove, I can go to the playlists and hear exactly what strikes my mood.

Wow, 808, your collection says that you're about 48 years old and are into classic rock! But your introduction says that you're a senior at Kahuku. Would that make you a "senior citizen" at Kahuku???

Anybody else here play with Pandora? Kinda cool. You give them an artist or song that you like, then they play other music for you that they think you'll like.
