Re: What's playing on your iTunes & iPod?

I just picked up a little 1GB mp3 player a couple weeks ago, with the intention of loading it up with some music to listen to on a three-day road trip, but after I get back, my plan is to just pick some of my absolute favorite songs, in all styles, fill it up and let it shuffle.
I got one that has FM radio as well, so I can record shows for later listening, and it also allows me to load sans computer (without data, of course), but that's ok for my intended purposes.
It's a Creative Zen Nano Plus, for those who want to know. I plan to call it my iDiot.

I'll join later. Will this go viral?

Ty Kroll, formerly of the Tantra Monsters, said his friend's friend started last.fm.

Usually when on iTunes I'll browse through the radio categories. Right now I'm stuck in radioioOne and radioioEcclectic because they play a wide variety of music. My other favorites are radioparadise (eccletic), radioio80s, and eggradio (when working). MoutainApple radio is pretty good too.

I keep using mine for things like long radio programs and such, which I listen to while riding the bus to/from work. Right now, it's loaded up with an 11-hour Leonard Bernstein radio documentary. Next, the original "Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" radio series, all the way up through the recently-produced volume five.

Kupomog, that sounds like a great playlist for today.... 6-6-6.

A lot of times the podcast I listen to don't get included with my iPod lists. I think the podcast directory doesn't get read into the "most recently played" list of my iTunes.

Hmm. My "recently played" list is often nothing but podcasts. The one thing about when iTunes "logs" things, though, is that an item often isn't considered "played" unless it runs to the very end. A lot of times, I imagine podcast listeners quit halfway through a show, or at least while the podcaster is wrapping things up.

Yep, I downloaded "Bad Day" when it was an iTunes freebie last August. That track was on a very slow burn to reaching bonafide hit status. Only this year did it top the Billboard Hot 100 chart as well as the iTunes Top 100...so while I got it for free, I am sure a lot more people paid for it.

In the end though, I ended up buying Daniel Powter's entire CD for $9.99 at BestBuy a few months ago and totally enjoy the rest of his music.

Another artist that was on a slow burn before achieving hit status this year was James Blunt whose song "You're Beautiful" had been around since about 2004 and nowdays you can't escape from hearing it on CHR and AC radio.

As for the iTunes freebies, most of the songs have dwelled in relative obscurity, though I find many songs to be very good that they end up on my high rotation list among the more than 8,000 songs I have in my iTunes library so far.

I think a couple of other iTunes freebies have become sort of hits, including "Cash Machine" by Hard Fi and "They" by Jem which was a hit on the electronic and dance charts. There may be others. I have to check my iTunes purchase logs.

Yep, often I quit the podcast near the very end of it before the track actually plays out, so that largely has to do with them not being logged.. which usually means I never stick around to hear the bumper for the "Hawaii Association of Podcasters" thing since it appears on several that I listen to.

Then again, several podcasts I listen to, I don't actively subscribe to.. which means I download em from their website and never add them into my iTunes. I end up playing them just using the Quicktime player.
                                I'm still here. Are you?
