  • Army, Navy and Air Force

I saw this on Tuesday's Star-Bulletin and I had to smile at the first line of the story:

Thirty-two soldiers from the Army's navy stationed at Hickam Air Force Base

Oh, gosh. Fire that copy editor. But hey, it could be worse. If they had said, "Thirty-two Marines..." that would REALLY be funny.

When I used to give the weather reports on KHNR I used to say, "No Marine warnings in effect but watch out for those Army men!"
Life is what you make of it...so please read the instructions carefully.

I don't know if it's still true, but at some point in the post-WW II era the Army actually had more floating equipment than the Navy, or so I remember being told. Think riverine ops during Vietnam.

I do remember some trivia point where the Army had more aircraft than the Air Force and more boats or ships than the Navy. I don't know if that is true today but I can understand the aircraft part, since I assume that the Army fields more helicopters than the Air Force.
