          "mmmm that's GOOOood!
sourrrr, sourrr, sourrr, SOURRR Old Man Adams is the sourest man in town"

the older guy is glaring thru the whole commercial, then at that last line, he grins wide and sez as the camera zooms in; "Gee, thanks!"

and the guy at the beginning of the commercial was a very young Barry Newman who played petroccelli.

snake was concurrent with peacock, at end of broadcasts from '59 and on.

That sour old man one is vaguely familiar... though I remember the TV show "Petroccelli."

On another item, here is a link to the NBC peacocks and snake logo:

Re: Vintage TV ads you think about years after...

While scouting around to find an old Hertz rent-a-car commercial from the 1960s, I ran across this site. Great old memories! I wanted to pass along a correction--it was Sominex, not Geritol, that led to a deep and restful sleep.

Wuo remembers the "Bosco Nova"? Throughout most of it, a deep voice sang "Bos-co--bosco nova" in the background; there was a lot of repetition in the lyrics, so I'll mostly only put them down once:

                              Flavor and fun for everyone
                              Flavor and fun for everyone
                              Big Original Sweet Choc Ocolate
                              Flavor and fun for everyone
                              Shake it (Bos-co)
                              Make it (Bos-co)
                              Drink it cold
                              Drink it hot
Either way here's what you've got
                              A, vitamin A, B2, D2, niacin and iron...
Do the Bosco Nova with Bosco
                              Together with the twist!

Or the Diet Right commercial with Twiggy singing (!) the lead in her best Cockney; I've spelled out the lyrics in "standard" English here:

No, sir, I'm not on a diet
That's not why I try it
It's got the greatest cola taste.

                              Never had to get thinner
Like it cause it's a winner
Just wish they'd change the silly name

                              What a waste
                              What a waste
When it's got the greatest cola taste.

You there who ain't on a diet
Forget no calories, go on and try it
It's got the taste that's right for me.

                              One more:
                              B-O
                              N-O
                              M-O
                              Bonomo
                              O-O-O
                              It's Bonomo
                              Candy
