Mmmm, sinigang! I just down a bowl of mongo bean soup with the chicharons and the paria leafs... my mom made it for me for cutting her grass this afternoon...yummy.

Btw, I'm filipino but not filipino-filipino... I only know the naughty words.

What a lovely compliment so early in the morning! Alas, I'm turning 50 years young soon, I'm the mother of three soldiers and a grandmother to boot. Auntie to many, hence, Auntie Lynn!

What brought me to Canada? Umm, my parents sponsored me and forced me a little to immigrate here. No regrets.

Welcome, sinigang. You're not the only Canadian on the boards (we've recently had someone join us from Victoria BC - look in the "Introductions" section.)

I'm a wee bit younger than Auntie Lynn, but not by much - I'm in Seattle, and have been to Canada many times; mostly BC, but have been to Toronto and environs. I've worked with a lot of Canadian musicians, mostly in the roots and world music areas (plus I regularly watch CBC and have a Macleans subscription.)

Have fun here - you'll hear about a lot more bands than Kalapana to listen to, by the way (referring to your post in another thread.) But if you like their sound, look into Cecilio & Kapono, Olomana, Keola & Kapono Beamer, & Country Comfort - similar sounds from that era.
