No fair ! I was in Vegas in June 05' , with my GPS to get me around places up there, Geez, I wish I heard about Geocaching then ..........I didnt find out about it a month later !

Cant wait to go for the Niu Valley caches....

Was it HOT? Is the pope catholic and German??

Man it was around 110 on Thursday, 112 on Friday and 113 on Sat. Main reason I did mostly micros and small (mostly altoid cans). Didn't want to wander to far in the desert. Last year it was cooler around 100 and I took a few hikes of about a mile or so.

Gotta watch out for desert critters that bite

The answer to the two questions is yes and yes and I heard the catholics now use beer instead of wine

No to the cache question. I looked last year and couldn't find it. Did not do any strip caches this year. I went as far "south" as Boulder City and a bit north of vegas, also east and west of Vegas as well as wandering around in Henderson.

I"ll be going back again next summer I hope.

    Lightbulb Re: Milestones

I made a Geocaching "type" decision while on vacation. I deleted 7 finds. I will no longer count virtuals or webcam caches for myself. I went through Yellowstone Park which has lots of virtuals and I like the areas, but decided not to log those finds and to delete my previously found ones. To me, I need to find an actual cache for it to be a geocache. I did find 23 cache hides while on the mainland though and had a Great time! Cache On!

Today I beat my personal best for a rubik's cube. I completed one in 54 seconds today. It is improved from my previous record of 62 seconds. I also brought my average of 10 solves (12 solves but you exclude the fastest and the slowest) from 2:05 to 1:13.

P.S. There may be cache that has to do with a rubik's cube coming out soon!!!

I recently busted the 150 barrier and am close to 160. I am going on a road trip up to Maine and hope to reach 200.

Congrats BWL2 . I'm kinda embarrased to say I'm only closing in on 20 caches found . I need to shift gears, lol.

No need to switch gears! One of the best things about caching in Hawaii is that no one here (as far as we can tell) thinks "it's all about the numbers." We see this as a positive.

Some other places they have these scary (to us) event "Cache Machines" where folks caravan a predetermined route and stop en masse at 50 or more caches in a day. Doesn't sound like fun to us. But to each his own.

Much Mahalo sillygirl & jrr, I was beginning to feel like I was being left in the dust compared to others & their finds so far . In doing some research on Etoa's "Dog Speak" I was amazed to see quite a few some cachers in Oregon hitting 1000 find milestones or more . We all go at our own pace and I'm am happy that I have many more caching adventures ahead of me . Still, hats off to all you guys hitting your milestones !!

    Thumbs up Re: Milestones

Yes, it's not about the numbers. The other thing is... have you noticed all the names of new cachers out there with brand new "Our first" find's or at least have just started?! Really cool!

Yeah, it's not about the numbers for me, but rather completeness (something which looks further and further away as the new caches pile up in my "To Do Or Not To Do..." box. At least I MAY be able to keep up with the puzzles...

When I started numbers were part of the game. I wanted to find as many caches as I could no matter where they were. Then I found being clandestine in a crowd was not my strong suit so I started looking for more isolated caches or virtuals in urban settings. 75 is a number with significance attached to it form me so I was glad #75 was one in a Magic Kingdom. And, I'd still like to find #100 before my geocaching anniversary. But, my priorities have shifted to roaming mountain trails, sea shores, or where ever I might find treasures be they tangible, intellectual, or spiritual. I'm not sure if I'm maturing, evolving, or just getting old.

We enjoy the numbers, but the hunt and find and where the caches take us are what we enjoy the most. There are a lot of places we would've never have gone if it weren't for geocaching.....we are saying that a lot lately, but we just can't get over it. We are able to meet really cool people and spend time as a family outside instead of on the couch. Exercise without thinking about it....we can go on and on.

Oh about milestones.....we are making the "Twisted Kitty" cache on August 8th our 100th find.

Sorry if I got off subject, but we are having a lot of fun.....

    See you in the bush!

Today we reached 100 caches. Did "water, water..." , "Pigs", and "Puowaina Challenge". It was great to have the Mrs. and Sidekick with me, since they were with in April at Lilikoukalani's Toy Box. So many memories, some funny, some frustrating, some incredibly inspiring. Not much of a milestone for most cachers here, but just a start...

To all the friends I have made over these past few months, I thank you for your advice, laughter, conversation, and interest in teaching my the right way to do something that is so fulfilling.

    Default My First Cache

Well, i finally got my first cache hide under my belt . It'll probably be posted sometime tomorrow, I hope. Unlike alot of other caches, I dont expect the mad dash to my cache as it is out in the leeward neck of the woods . It's feels great and exiciting to stash my first cache! What about you guys; what was your very first hide and what was it like for you?

In the three days of caching in DC, MD, VA areas, I've managed to find 27 caches....most of them have been virtual caches along The Mall in downtown DC (WWII memorial, Viet Nam memorial, etc), but I got the chance to cache with the organizer of another site and he took me into VA and MD last night. Pretty cool. I'm going to have to venture out and visit some REAL caches while I'm here, but not sure of my schedule yet. Plus, it's raining (first day of rain since I've been here) and that puts a damper on things.

    We'll see.....

So, we went from 125 to 153 in a matter of three days.....now I see how cachers can find over 100 in a day here. Unreal.

Not only did I find 28 caches, but I was able to walk all over D.C. and see the sites.....TRULY AMAZING PLACE!!! That and the fact that I walked 6.5 miles the first day and over 7 miles the next.......my feet are sore! LOL!

    Closing in on 200!!!

NUMBER 100! Yeah! I wanted to find my hundreth cache before my 1 year anniversary of geocaching next month and today was the day. Thanks Menehune Man for the two fun caches I found today. I think A Leprchaun's Pot-o-Gold was one of the most fun hikes I've done. My kids accompanied me to the cache, and I continued up to the first "Notch". I really wanted to climb down into the first notch and see if I could get to the second, but being solo at that point and with the clouds begining to roll past I thought I'd leave that adventure for another day. I had been looking at Menehune Water Source very soon after discovering geocaching so it was fitting that it was number 100. Thanks for the great clues as I had no reception in the valley and it started to rain as I approached the site. The rain almost washed all he ink from the print out before I found the cache. I want to come back and follow the trail above the waterfalls when it's drier. I would have tried to find more caches today but my knee gave out and I limped my way to the Ko'olau Golf Course parking lot (I wish had my trekking poles today). I'm going to have to mark that junction that leads under the highway better the next time I'm in the area.

    (1) Right on! A hundred finds and it feels good yeah?!
    (2) You're more than welcome, it actually goes the other way... Thanks for going for my hides!
    (3) Wow, got kids up there? What ages?
    (4) Let me know when you want to go, because I'd love to join you. I've never been up into that hidden valley. Looks choice!
