  • What happens in Vegas...Stays in Vegas...NOT!

I Left Vegas on September 19th, 2003 after UH played played UNLV in Footbabll at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Vegas.

Originally went to Gamble and watch the Bows Play Football.

They say what happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas!

    I say not!!!!!

On June 18, 2004, My wife gave birth to my first child. (Exactly 9 months later)

I guess we hit the Jackpot after all.

    Any other good Vegas Memories?

How much money have you spent in VEGAS in the last 10 years including air fare? or for that matter? Any big winners on the Board...

    Getting back to topic...

What is peoples thoughts about possibly legalizing Gambling here in Hawaii?

    I've never been to Vegas.

I say, legalize pretty much anything adults want to do that doesn't immediately and physically hurt another person. Gambling, hookers, marijuana, the whole shebang. Our government's job is to protect our borders, not to control and try to make money off of every aspect of our lives.

      legalize shebangs, too.
      whole ones, if possible.

I think the kanaka maoli should be able to have casinos on HHL, just like the Ndns do on their reservations (we have tons of Indian casinos in this state, and many non-Ndn ones too). It would get the kanaka maoli off the state and federal dole and help them raise their own standard of living. And since no one would be putting a gun to anyone's head and forcing them to gamble, it shouldn't be regulated in the way it is now.

I have a Vegas story from last Sept., but it was a very costly story...

I say get one of those nice cruiseliners and load it up with craps tables, slot machines, a poker tournament, some decent entertainment and cheap drinks and have that sucker take on passengers at Aloha Tower Marketplace for weekend gambling trips in international waters. Don't make it legal here but give people another option besides vegas.

also make sand island access road the red light district and put all the friggen hookers, strip clubs, korean bars and massage parlors there too. have cops patrol with M-16 and check everybody's license as they drive in and out of the area.

drugs? make 'em all legal EXCEPT for Ice and speed because those have proven to make people violent...also, make committing crimes WHILE on drugs a more serious penalty than committing crimes while not on drugs and force drug using criminals to stay in prison until they complete a drug rehab program.

that and build a bigger prison out in Halawa Valley...there's ways to increase freedom and liberty and still be secure.

You'd have to burn the Constitution first. Probably the only piece of paper I'd protect with my life.

I dont think so...the matter becomes a zoning issue rather than an ethics issue. all the city would be saying is that they have designated areas for this sort of thing, and you can do this but it has to be done here. kind of what they're trying to do in waikiki with the street performers. if you try to ban it the ACLU gets on your ass but if you just regulate it and say here, stay in these areas, then no problem.

the part about checking everyone's license as they drive in and out was wishful thinking on my part. but the cops can sure as hell carry m-16's or whatever else they wanna carry in that area. heck, build another police station with a cellblock in there and there you go, all set for the weekend!!!

This can be done...it's being done at the border now between Washington State and Oregon because cars registered in Oregon don't have to pay a vehicle tax but cars registered in Washington do. So for years, lots of Washington state people, especially the ones who live in the Vancouver, WA area, would register their cars in Oregon to avoid paying the sales tax every year. The state of WA figured out what was happening (especially when the excise tax here in WA was so horrible) and realized that millions of dollars in tax revenue was slipping out of its fingers. So now I think the cops cruise residential streets in Vancouver looking for cars with OR license plates parked in front of houses and run a check to see if the owners of the cars have a WA address. If they do, I think the State of WA goes after them for back taxes.
