Mahalo to all for the birthday wishes: I spent the day at home, getting over a cold that gripped me all weekend - and WHAT a weekend it was! Here's the simplified rundown:

Friday afternoon - visit to our office, including performance by and lunch with Patrick Landeza, David Kamakahi & Bobo Miles;
Friday night - sold-out concert by George Kahumoku, Jr., Cyril Pahinui, Dennis & David Kamakahi (on Dennis' birthday), I helped emcee;

Saturday - 8:30 am to 5 pm - workshop classes (Landeza, Miles, both Kamakahi father & son) & kanikapila between;
Saturday evening - 7 pm on - birthday party for Dennis Kamakahi, with 60+ people from the area's Hawaiian community; music, hula, food, more music, and over an hour of playing by Dennis & David (& I sang a little backup with 'em!);

Sunday - classes all day again, except I left at 3, taking David Kamakahi with me for:
Sunday afternoon - 3 to 5 pm - David Kamakahi visits (and performs for) SUPA: Seattle `Ukuklele Players Association;
After that, we took David to his hotel, then I went home to crash for the remainder of Sunday and all day (birthday) Monday.

This coming weekend, more of the same, with a Jake Shimabukuro concert Friday night, radio show on Saturday afternoon, followed by a kanikapila session, then a hula performance by our halau later that night.

"Death by Hawaiian Music" - that'll be my epitaph (but I'll be smiliing!)
