Was just recently told of another YouTube video in which I appear (there's about 3-4 others I know of, all from hula gigs) - I was playing bass for a private party, but shifted to `ukulele so I could sing, as my kumu hula was teaching "Hukilau" (which always gets a little wacky...see if you can catch me singing about "inappropriate touching / at the hukilau" near the end).

Weirdest part is that this is from YouTube Taiwan...I think. Ai-ya.

Last night was the latest gathering of Manoa Geeks, a local meetup of tech and web heads, academics, and artists. When Manoa Geeks first came together last March, there were five of us in a coffee shop in Manoa (hence the name). Yesterday, there were over 50 people there. I continued to be floored by the number and diversity of "geeks" in this town. Overheard more than once was, "Where have all of you been all these years?" The cross-disciplinary nature of the group is key. You had everyone from high-level defense contractors to college kids to... Aunty Lynn!

I put together a video to give the curious a taste of what these gatherings are like. Maybe you'd like to join us next month?

                    Food Court Musical
Published on March 9, 2008 in Missions.

                    From the article:

"For our latest mission, 16 agents staged a spontaneous musical in the
food court of a Los Angeles shopping mall. We used wireless
microphones to amplify the vocal performances and mix them together
with the music through the mall's PA system. We filmed the mission
with hidden cameras, mostly behind two-way mirrors. Apart from our
performers, no one in the food court was aware of what was happening.
Enjoy the video first and then go behind the scenes with our report below."

I put together a short video featuring scenes from yesterday's finals in the FIRST in Hawaii Regional Robotics Competition.

Congrats to Radford High School, one of the three teams advancing to the finals (along with schools from California and Florida). I enjoyed meeting the team from Kohala High School, "The Cowboys," who had huge spirit for their small group. My mother's family is from Kohala, and one of the women thought she actually knew my grandmother's family!

And... brace yourselves. Aunty Lynn is now on YouTube!
