Was truly one of the more talented performers tonight....
However, the whole show was kind of slow and it seemed like everyother talent was either hula or tahitian dancing.

I still remember working the Miss Universe pageant at the Stan Sheriff.

Pili was my fave! The 'buzz' (no offense, Erika!) didn't have her in the lead but she did it! Be it the Miss Hawaii pageant, the Hokus, the Pele's, whatever, there's much more excitement being there than watching it on tv. Jordan Segundo was great, as usual! Ryan Sabado, along with the 24-VII Dance Force got this tutu's dance hormones raging! Fun night!

Pili was a surprise. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad she won and she's most certainly deserving of the title...but honestly, Angela Everhart was the favorite going in. That's why I was when her name was called as 1st Runner Up for the SECOND year in a row.

If I'm not mistaken, this was Pili's 3rd attempt at the crown. I thought it was cute how she had her other younger brother escort her in the evening gown. Last year, brother Kapulani had the honor.

Usually I get excited when it's time for the talent portion. It was a big yawner this year. No variety. Kinda glad Nicky sang her Chicago number instead of doing a Tahitian.

And way to go to Tasha, 4th Runner Up. I really hope she returns next year. Tasha, Pili, and Nicky are all Kamehameha grads who've known each other a very very long time, so it was so great to see these girls competing for the crown at the same time.

Bumping because of exciting news:

Miss Hawaii Pilialoha Gaison a preliminary winner in the second night of competition.

Hopefully she stuck her other categories and rated high enough with the judges to secure a spot in the final 10!

Miss America airs on Monday (moved from the traditional Saturday in hopes of getting a bigger audience) on CMT and will be hosted by Mario Lopez.

Wish I could find the photo I saw in today's Advertiser. It showed one of the contestants doing some aerial gymnastics suspended with a long cloth. I had to laugh because it's not what I normally think of in a Miss America pageant.

Was sure easy to pick Pili out without opening the thumbnails!!! I'd heard last week that she had a show-stopper of a Tahitian dance number. Guess it worked...so far! GO PILI!

FYI, she had a quick cameo on part one of the Top Chef season finale this week. She greeted the four finalists at the Kona airport and escorted them to their helicopter tour. She later showed up (with tiara) at their dinner competition as a guest of Alan Wong's.

You should be able to catch a repeat - they tend to rerun shows about a dozen times in the week the originally air.

Ah, it was Miss Wyoming doing her aerial silk dance. Certainly a change from all the singing and piano playing most of the others seem to do.
