    What kind of ideas?

We used to build kites way back. Got burned out about 6 years ago and haven't done any kitemaking since. Recently been getting that itch back, though.

Btw, kind of a resume. Our kitemaking got us to several mainland kitemaking retreats to teach our techniques as well as to a couple of Euro kite festivals as "special" guests. Bristol Int'l Kite Fest and Dieppe. More recently we were guests at a kite fest in Laughlin, AZ for a few years.

Along with that kitemaking itch, we're thinking about getting a more "organized" kite group going. The old Hawaii Kitefliers Assoc. is long gone and there is no organized kite groups here, to my knowledge.

Feel free to email us with the questions and hopefully we'll be able to answer them or steer him to a source that can.

get two sticks make a cross, get some tissue paper to form the kite.

One string across left and right another top to bottom.

Tie your kite string about a third from the center of the intersection left and right (yes you have to make a yoke).

Tie a long tail of ribbon at the bottom of the cross.

Fly the kite and trim the tail until it stops wobbling in the air.

Simple kites are always the best.

And like Lucy in Charlie Brown, make the kite really tiny so you give the impression that it's wayyyy up there!

And watch out for those voracious kite-eating trees.

especially the thorny keawe. That's pretty much a kite killing tree

Sandy Beach still has a steady group of Kite fliers. I'd go hang out there and chat.

Never been a Kite enthusiasts myself. If I ever do, knowing me I'd probably try and figure out 101 ways to attach an engine to it.
