The POTC #2 thread reminded me of this.........
Couple of years ago I was interviewing within my company for a position and I was asked the above question. Now before I go further I want to add that HR in the last couple of years have been a little more creative in asking questions cuz everyone knows how to answer "where do you see yourself in five years" and "what is your greatest weakness" type of questions.
I initially was floored with this strange request so I bought a little time asking questions, trying to establish initial conditions. Finally was able to confirm that the timeframe for the professions in question were "back in the day" AKA I was to answer it not modern day.
I answered Pirate and basically said because I like to kick *ss and have a good time doing it. So I wouldn't come across as lawless and undisciplined I talked about the Pirates Code. Talked about a bunch of other stuff to support my position like working in a team environment.
I ended up getting the job, apparently they were looking for a pirate not a ninja. Now, even though this was some sort of evil HR ploy, the question intrigued me.
So, what say you, would you rather be a pirate or a ninja????
