I want to know which radio station do you guys listen to ? I've been listening to KCCN FM on the internet and find that it has good reagee (sp) music. Is there any with good rock music or typical hawaiian music too ? Was in Waikiki over a month ago and I miss the place already.

    Warning: promoting myself here...

Just a reminder, even though it isn't a CONTINUOUS stream of Hawaiian music, we do a weekly two-hour show in Seattle every Saturday, from Noon - 2pm Pacific Time. The show is called "Hawai`i Radio Connection," and streams live at http://kbcs.fm. (For those who live in the Puget Sound, it is on KBCS-FM at 91.3.)

The hosts rotate every week, and I am generally co-hosting the first Saturday of each month, along with Moloka`i's Manono (Aki) McMillan; we will be on this coming Saturday, August 5.

I do miss The Breeze, though.

Had no idea that you were involved in this show, then again, I channel surf when there is long periods of talking.....

      Great show.

You got to be the guy who does not have an "accent".

That would be me: Uncle Gregg. I'm the only regular host not from the Islands (unless you count Calabash Uncle Steve, who hosts whenever we have a fifth Saturday - he's also the station manager.) Thanks for the compliment; it's a treat to do the show, and an honor to have been accepted by the "local" community around Seattle.

KCOF 102.5 in South Kona. No commercials, Community Radio at its finest.

Their antenna is tied to a crane in the yard. Pretty hinky. But effective.

Non-commercial community radio, at a "commercial" frequency (rather than the public radio ghetto at the left-end of the dial)? Lucky (and smart) folks; if they ever need kala, that frequency allocation could be worth quite a bundle. Do they do fundraising drives?

              Aloha, eh, Montreal-er!

              Here's a resource for you:

              www.hawaiiradiotv.com

It's a Web site established by Mel the Admin.-dude, which also had a message board awhile back. The message board has been folded into HawaiiThreads as "Hawaii Media."

Mel has pages on his site that show you which stations have streaming and lists Internet radio shows too.

Specifically, KIPO 89.3, and they do stream live. The host is Derrick Malama, my predecessor at Muzak - he was the one who developed the Hawaiian channel that I have been programming for the past several years. He also programmed the compilation CD "Pure Hawaiian `Elua" for Quiet Storm Records, and is the host of HPR's "Morning Edition."

I usually listen to KINE, KCCN, or KDNN, 98.5. There is a good rock station, KUCD, http://www.star1019fm.com. They play alot of alternative.

The same radio station I've been listening to for the past 10 years: Hot939 (if I do listen to local radio).

I have been listening to Maui's KNUI AM 900 lately for Hawaiian music. I am squeezing the last drops out of KNUI before they flip to talk on September 1.

                            Hello everybody.

I would like to know if there are any radio stations in Hawaii that specialize in gospel music. That play songs from artists like Kirk Franklin, or Mary Mary or Natalie grant. If you have any information please help me out. I realize this is Hawaii and I didn't know if there is much in the way of black gospel music or gospel music in general.

                            Much appreciation for any info
                            thanks

95.5 FM The Fish plays those artists as well as other mainstream Contemporary Christian artists. I started listening as an alternative to regular radio and while it's a fresh sound, the repitition gets old for me quick. That said, I do find myself tuning in regularly.
