    Re: Favorite pieces of lyrics
    I love everybody
    Especially you
    I love everybody
    Especially you
    So if you feel lonesome
    Remember it's true
    I love everybody
    Especially you

      Re: Favorite pieces of lyrics

She comes back to tell me she's gone,
As if I didn't know that
As if I didn't know my own bed,
      As if I'd never noticed,
The way she brushed her hair from her forehead.

      And she said losing love
Is like a window in your heart,
      Everybody sees you're blown apart,
      Everybody sees the wind blow.

      Paul Simon, Graceland

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
May your song always be sung
        May you stay forever young
        Forever young, forever young
        May you stay forever young

          Re: Favorite pieces of lyrics

Whew, my life anthems aren't quite so "erudite"...

When I was incarcerated in college it was "Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends" blasting from the dorm windows after every vacation was over.

In my active-duty days it was, as Tiki says, "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave..."

But these days it's mostly lines from Joe Walsh's "Life's Been Good To Me So Far".

However to truly annoy/embarrass your teenager (especially in the high school parking lot) it takes Gene Simmons belting out "I. Wanna rock & roll. All night. And party ev-er-y day." at a volume high enough to make the windows rattle. See? A certain demographic of you are head-banging right now!
Youth may be wasted on the young, but retirement is wasted on the old.
Live like you're dying, invest like you're immortal.
We grow old if we stop playing, but it's never too late to have a happy childhood.
Forget about who you were-- discover who you are.

How about Nicole Ritchie's Dad of, "I had a Dream, I had an Awesome Dream?"
Even George W said to the Pope, "Awesome Speech."

me being me, since college, i've always had a soft spot for liz phair's lyrics, particularly those found in "exile to guyville."

naughty, naughty, naughty lyrics to "flower" here. youtube of the song as performed on the album. those of you who don't like in-your-face expressions of female sexuality, don't click on either of those links, please. save yourself from my offending your sensibilities (again).

here's something tamer from the same album. i think this song, entitled "shatter," speaks to those of us who had randier romantic lives and surprised themselves by falling in love:
              I know that I don't always realize
              How sleazy it is
              Messing with these guys
But something about just being with you
Slapped me right in the face
              Nearly broke me in two
              It's a mark
              I've taken hard
And I know I will carry with me for a long long time

              I don't know if I could drive a car
Fast enough to get to where you are
or wild enough not to miss the boat completely
              Honey, I'm thinking maybe
              You know just maybe

              I don't know if I could fly a plane
Well enough to tail spin out your name
Or high enough to lose control completely
              Honey, I'm thinking maybe
              You know just maybe, maybe
superbia (pride), avaritia (greed), luxuria (lust), invidia (envy), gula (gluttony), ira (wrath) & acedia (sloth)--the seven deadly sins.

"when you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: the people i deal with today will be meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous, and surly..."--meditations, marcus aurelius (make sure you read the rest of the passage, ya lazy wankers!)

nothing humiliates like the truth.--me, in conversation w/mixedplatebroker re 3rd party, 2009-11-11, 1213
