Sunday Night. Horizontal WATERFALLS! Can hardly call it rain. Everything in the carport was soaked. Donder and blitzen all night, dog slept under the covers.
Monday night. Not quite so bad, but still intense rain and lightning. I was unaware of any hail in Kahalu`u/Ahuimanu.

Oh Chu. If only you could have seen what I've seen, with your eyes.
The hail coming down is a very fascinating event.
I sure hope somebody pulled out a video camera or cell phone and
captured this.
There was a solitary report in an early Hawaiian newspaper of "snowfall"
in Honolulu circa 1816.
I wonder if hail might be described as snow.
WOW, the lightning! Cloud to cloud, and literally every couple of seconds. Kind of like a fluorescent light that flickers nonstop, but of course brighter and noisier.
Here's what the National Weather Service issued a few minutes ago:
The NWS in honolulu has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for: the island of oahu in honolulu county Until 600 am hst.
At 522 am hst, radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail, and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located near kailua, or 10 miles northeast of honolulu, moving to the east at 10 mph.
I woke up about about half an hour ago on a quiet, still morning and looked out the window to an amazing lightning show just above/beyond the Koolau. It was an incredible roiling cloud of lightning, one after the other, but no thunder. What a sizzling show that must have been on the Windward side.
Reminded me of that lightning/thunder event from last year. Now I'm beginning to hear bits of thunder, but very little lightning.
Hail is quite interesting isn't it?? I've picked up pieces as big as avocado but about the only purpose it serves is to fascinate you and take your mind off of the tornado that is about to remove everything from your possession.
If anyone on Oahu is NOT happy , feel free to trade places with me.
