KITV announces new anchor team for
Island Television News at 6pm
HONOLULU (September 8, 2008)-KITV Island Television News announced today
that the 5 p.m. anchor team of Gary Sprinkle and Pamela Young will add the 6
p.m. news to their duties effective September 15th.
"With Gary and Pamela anchoring Hawaii's top rated 5 p.m. newscast, building
a 2 rated lead-in from Judge Judy at 4:30 p.m. to a #1(7 rated) newscast at
5 p.m., it is obvious that Gary and Pamela have great appeal to Hawaii's
viewers. With changes occurring in competitive newscasts, we feel the time
is right for this logical experiment," stated Mike Rosenberg, president &
general manager.
"Gary and Pamela have a rich tradition of excellence including multiple Emmy
and SPJ award winning stories and specials. We hope to expose their talents
to a new audience at 6 p.m.," stated Tod Pritchard, news director of KITV
Island Television News.
Island Television News at 10 will continue to be anchored by Paula Akana and
Shawn Ching.
