I got started with "The Emperor of the Sea", which was an excellent movie, nominated for several Asian versions of our Academy Awards. I learned to make the 49 episodes of 90 minutes each, it cost about $1 BILLION. If you are into Korean Dramas, that is one I would highly recommend.

What I don't like about the Korean dramas is that the English subtitles sometimes does not actually match what they are saying in Korean. Also, I have a lot of difficulty with some American terms that are used in Korean, such as "blood is thicker than water" or "For Pete's Sake"...

Re: Anyone here watch Korean dramas?
For the love of God, I somehow got HOOKED on 'DON'T HESITATE. This series is still in progress on Oceanic analog channel 4, airing on Friday and Saturday, yet I watched it online in its entirety to the final EP.
Let me just say that in the end, (the EVIL!) chairwoman Lee Jeong-soo gets a serious karma payback and everyone else lives happily ever after.
I've NEVER watched a soap -- either American or otherwise -- in its entirety before this, and hopefully won't get hooked on another one. YET "evil" characters can make these dramas enticing! Drama fo' yo' mama, and then some!sigpic The Tasty Island

Korean script writers are very strange. In many dramas, there is no real justice for some of the worst villians. They tend to make the villians about as bad as they can get, and you keep watching to see them get their "punishment" but sometimes they don't get enough.

I'm especially hooked on the historical/period ones ("sageuk"). Favorites have been Empress Chun Chu, Queen Seon Duk, Yi San, Jewel in the Palace, and Hwang Jin Yi. Currently watching Dong Yi. All around the Joseon dynasty (late 1300's to late 1800's). Learning a little Korean in the process also.

Getting a little off topic, I personally met and golfed with a doctor from Japan, who is supposed to be one of the world's best known liver specialists. His wife is a gynecologist. The I don't remember much about him or his wife, but their surname was "Sasaki"... I did ask him about liver transplants, and he told me it is possible to remove a part of your liver, or be a liver donor more than once, because the remaining liver grows back to size after time.
