Re: Best thing that happened to you in 2011 was...
Well, I can't be certain yet, but I hope that it will eventually be revealed that the elimination of my job (as of 12/31/11, due to state budget cuts) might fill this role.
But to go with something more solid, I'll say it was having my daughter and granddaughter move near me in February.
Moving back home to Kaaawa.
As much as I dig beach front living in Waialua, and continuing my town love of Honolulu, 15 years away from where I belong was much too long. I can still see the beach from my bedroom window, but far enuf away from the Hwy. noise to enjoy it all with kitten Mittens, pit bull Lima, and 2 cement pigs in the front yard. AHHHHH!
Actually it was Sailing with Don and Brice from San Diego! Lived a dream.
We cast off at 640am 2/24/2011
Headed south along Baja Mexico then West towards Hawaii.
Tied on in Hilo at 9:35pm 3/22/2011
No wonder you're such a sourpuss if that was the highlite of you're '11!
'12 is already starting off with a big bang for me, I just scored a brand friggin new PRS Santana SE for $500!
Excuse me while I continue my very happy dance!

That's a really nice electric guitar for folks like myself that didn't know.
I researched it.
Life is either an adventure... or you're not doing it right!!!

I knew a few like yourself would be interested enuf to search and appreciate, MM. A search provides much better examples of info and pix than I could post of the one I got, a blacktop, just like I'd been dreaming of. Never heard of any new PRS being had for $500.
Hang around, Tats, for a long time. Best!

Like Leo, I'm making the most of forced transitions. Mine is getting the kick in the rear to finally try changing careers from computer geekery to teaching. Thanks for laying me off, stupid startup!
Yeee-OUCH!!!
Been through that a few times myself, and I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone. Up your liquid intake - any kine liquids (beer & wine included), because you may now have a 50-50 chance of getting them again (if yours was standard kine).

Hope we'll both have success stories to tell before long, Pohaku.
