Yeah, that's it! Thanks! Are they still there?

When I left the Islands, Ala Moana Center was going through quite a bit of renovation/change, and there was a lot of the place that was basically white plywood.

still there. the departments/businesses on the bottom floor of Shirokiya seem to be slowly disappearing. the food court's going strong--or is busy, at least.

In Sears' case, I can see successor stores that specialize in home appliances and hardware. But the name and image of those outlets would probably have to distance themselves from the old Sears stores. The name "Sears" and its reputation just doesn't seem to appeal to the younger generation of consumers.

Possibly. But even there, they shouldn't try to be another Amazon and try to sell everything under the sun. They need to focus on a specialty.
SEARS: Rugged Work clothes. Sturdy boots. Reliable camping equipment!
Reliable and innovative tools. The basics!
          Appliances? Sure. Again, the basics.

Seems that Taco del Mar at Ala Moana Shopping Center closed some time ago.

              Disapearing Establishment(s)

Some companies have come & gone, some have staid...

              some got up & left...

I have been meaning to ask.....

What ever happened to the dollar store , I know they have been gone for a long while now, & also that dollar movie too.

Did the dollar store move or just left completely??

why did the dollar movie left?? I really missed it a lot.

There was a 99¢ Store in the Ward complex on the corner of Ward and Auahi. Prices eventually increased to $1.99! The merchandise is now a part of the Murakai store on Auahi in the Ward Farmers Market building. Not much 99¢ or $1.99 merchandise, tho'. The store as it once was is no longer!!!

                    Re: Disapearing Establishment(s)

At about the same time as the 99 cent store at Ward, Don Quijote (or maybe it was still Daiei at the time) had a section of 99 cent (or maybe dollar) merchandise. It was very popular. That's long gone, I'm sad to say. Prices do go up. But at least McDonald's still has it's 99 cent menu. At least I think it's still does. (I haven't eaten there in a while.)
