What's this about forgiveness? I don't think he gives a whit about forgiveness from us, nor did he do anything that hurt me and mine.

On second thought - maybe he did, as folks like you and Sue are stung by his actions. That's not good.

I wouldn't say I'm "stung" by his actions. Disappointed, yes, as I had such admiration for the way I thought he was conducting his life. Disappointed because he was living what turned out to be a life of lies. But, I don't know the man so his behavior had no direct impact on me therefore neither does the subject of forgiveness. Trust me, I've not lost any sleep over this subject!

The Mirror is reporting that Elin is going for full (rather than joint) custody of the children, after Tiger refused to seek treatment for sex addiction. The article also reports that she is seeking half of Tiger's fortune. Needless to say, this has all the makings of a very nasty divorce case.

Friends said she will instruct her lawyer, legendary Hollywood divorce specialist Sorrell Trope, to rip up her pre-nuptial agreement and fight for half of Woods’ £340million fortune with custody of the kids.

Yesterday legal experts told the Sunday Mirror she is unlikely to get full custody because a US judge will not take Woods’ cheating with up to 14 mistresses into *account.

Legal experts said his home state of Florida is “dad-friendly” and his serial cheating would only count against him if Elin’s lawyer’s could prove it made him “a detriment” to his children.
Sounds like bad news for Elin, right? But in another article from the same paper, Elin is planning to file for divorce on more favorable turf in California.

And in another blow to Woods, Elin is believed to be planning to file for divorce in California – where the couple have a home – and not Florida, where they live.

Under California law the “no-fault divorce”, introduced in 1970, means there is an equal division of assets and property.

This could mean that any pre-nup agreement Elin signed with the golf star will be torn up.

A source said: “Mr Trope is the best divorce lawyer in the business and the divorce laws in California are much more favourable than most other states.

“Elin can fight for half of what her husband has earned since they were married. And Trope can bust through any pre-nup – he’s done it many times before.”
This is bad news for Tiger, all the way around. A bitter divorce proceeding will only delay/hinder efforts from Tiger to reconcile with the media and the public. And because so much money is at stake, you can be sure that Tiger's lawyers will tell him not to do any "no-holds-barred, come out with the truth" interview. At best, any interview will be carefully scripted and crafted, which will make him sound insincere and evasive at a time when the public is expecting him to be heartfelt and candid about his infidelities.

It's always sad when a public figure who appeared to be admirable in their behavior turns out to be as flawed as most of us, isn't it? This whole incident still leaves me in the realm of "meh" simply because Woods didn't register on my radar that much.

With all due respect, LL, when it comes to the subject of infidelity, I see Woods' "flawed" behavior as quite a bit more extreme than most of us.

Tiger Woods deserves to get "bad news" when it comes to a divorce!!! He not only cheated but serially cheated. I'm giving all props to Elin Woods for being smart enough to get a good lawyer who will get everything he can.

I had a very quiet, friendly divorce with no ugly fights. Of course, we weren't splitting up a great amount of assets. But the cheating that Tiger indulged himself in was stupid on HIS part, and just plain sleazy.

Of course - this is assuming that all this about the divorce is not just rumors.

I couldn't agree more, but I do not believe this is what happens in a typical situation when there are sizable assets. The cheating spouse typically has the element of surprise and the advantage of not being emotionally affected by issues of betrayal, etc. They have the luxury of making more calculating decisions, and observing the reports that Woods was able to keep things quiet for so long, I think it would be very reasonable to assume that he considered the legal ramifications years ago.

I don't have a very lofty opinion of the legal system. Strictly speaking in general, if two opposing lawyers want to create an expensive legal war of attrition solely to get their bills paid and then some, it will happen. And in emotionally charged matrimonial cases, there is very rarely any litigant with full emotional control who is minding the store, so to speak. The only advantage celebrities have is the very high visibility of their cases. The judges and other officers of the court will likely exert extra effort to ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible to maintain enough public confidence to severely limit calls of judicial reform.

This is the sad reality of the system, and they are only exposed when a rare district attorney has the stones to take on a sitting judge. I don't believe that prosecutions such as the above, and federal sting operations such as Operation Greylord, happen nearly as often as they should.

Some news as to how some of his encounters were hidden from the public, also mentions the California Governor in this article which is probably one of the few Tiger hasn't slept with yet!

ESPN had an interesting panel discussion on its Outside The Lines show a few days ago, talking about why there is there is so much public interest in the Tiger Woods scandal.

Now, keep in mind that this program was aired several days ago, when it was still thought that Tiger and Elin would have an amicable parting of the ways. Of course, that has all changed. So a couple of the pundits might want to slightly revise their comment about a divorce being "a blessing in disguise" for Tiger, because a bitter divorce/custody battle could turn out to be a long, drawn-out ordeal with a lot of dirty laundry being publicly aired.

One other thing to note: Setting aside a couple of UH football play-by-play commentary threads, this thread is the quickest growing thread of an ongoing, developing story in the Player's Place forum. Only 24 days old, and it's already up to 174 posts, including this one. It just goes to show... this Tiger Woods story is big news and has taken a life of its own.

It's not entirely clear which side first conceived of the quid pro quo: Woods and his team of lawyers, headed by pit-bull-to-the-stars Marty Singer, or American Media. The Journal says the Enquirer made the first move, letting Woods's representatives know it had the photos and was ready to publish them, prompting the offer of an exclusive interview.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was the Enquirer/AMI that made the initial offer to Tiger's camp to supress the story, especially if it's true that the picture quality of those compromising photos were poor. But no matter who made the first move, both sides comes out of this whole thing looking sleazy.

The Young Turks (of YouTube fame) offer their take on the matter.

Oh, I'd like to see Tiger earning $100 mil. being a spokesperson for the Shady Lady Brothel, MGM Grand Casino, Viagra, and Trojan Condoms. (Last one being subject to cancellation if Tiger has an illegitimate "Cub" out there, somewhere.)

Oh, please! I don't aim that high (million dollar-wise).

People do funny thing when they earn that much money, like corporate executives at Enron, and Madoff.

Besides, I don't like other people think (out loud and through their mouthpieces) how I should spend/use my money, anyway.
