I just got back from a meeting in Hawaii Kai (I'm a consultant for their project of dredging all of Hawaii Kai), and had dinner at Outback Steakhouse over there. Beautiful waterfront location, and fantastic service. Dinner was a house salad, baked potato, and an excellent 11 oz. sirloin steak. I was impressed.

Side note: before going in to Outback I went next door to visit my old stomping ground, Roy's. (Used to play music on the lanai there, every Sunday night.) The staff told me business there at the original Roy's had gone downhill after the new Roy's opened in Waikiki, so the tourists didn't have to drive out to Hawaii Kai. Silly tourists. You can't beat those Hawaii Kai waterfront views of Maunalua Bay!

Side note to my side note: Roy still cooks at the original location when he's in town. He used to come downstairs to listen to the music and have an adult beverage or three, and he'd be wearing his chef's whites. Well, you know how young Roy looks, so occasionally when he'd come out on the lanai diners would think he was a busboy and they'd ask him to refill their water glasses.
And he'd do it, quite graciously.
The diners never knew who it was, and we 'regulars' would snicker and Roy would wink.
