He is one of three individuals (who were not spammers) that Ryan felt should be banned from HT due to their behavior on the boards, despite repeated warnings and opportunities to change.

Serves as a reminder that while we are allowed a very long leash here, there is someone in charge, someone who pays the bills, someone who will step in and make changes if needed. It's a very small amount of moderation, but I think it's better than an unregulated free-for-all. (Fortunately, there's plenty of those available, if that's what someone prefers.)

I was going to say something, but nevermind.

I'm pretty sure he's still around lurking. I received a PM a few months ago from someone with his posting style. Instead of making a big stink about it, I forwarded it to admin and never received another PM from that person again.

It's certainly possible. Anyone can read HT; in fact, if you check the public profile of a banned member, you can sometimes see updated information in their "Last Activity" line, often months after their banishment. The most recently departed last looked in on us just a couple weeks ago, according to his profile (as of today.)

I imagine we can be a hard habit to break...for a while. According to his profile, Manoa last checked on us over six months ago.

I've never had a problem with him tho'.

As a matter of fact, when I posted a month ago about what to do in the case of a Tsnumani in Hilo, he emailed me with very useful advice.

Like I said, I've always been ok with Manoa, and sometimes miss him posting.

As for sinjin's comment, I would think that's best kept between Admin and any of the three individuals Lynn named, not the rest of us.

I was on an email list with Iz and that's how he typed. Seems like extra work to keep hitting the shift key so often. I think Iz capitalized every other letter! Somehow that typing quirk gave Iz a little extra cyber character!

I remember that!! Definitely harder to read, but extra cyber character. That was a great list.

It really was quite a year-ender. To be honest, it really brought me down. Someone actually asked me to intervene and calm one of the parties down, but I didn't get that email until after the Big One; by the time I read the request, everything had already blown up. Don't know if there is anything I could have done, but I do wonder.
