This is a letter from Kumu Hula Mapuana deSilva:

I am writing to ask for help in trying to help me locate my Hawaiian
bracelet. Last night, Thursday, June 14, 2007, someone burglarized our home
while we were having dinner. They stole my purse with everything in it:
the usual stuff ID, credit cards, money, cell phone, and keys to my van and
my home. Because I had just come home from hula my Hawaiian bracelet was
also in my purse.
It is a 10 mm, flat bracelet, with Mapuana on the outside in slanted letters
with a fleur d'lise pattern at the ends of my name. The inscription on the
inside is: With love, Mom and Dad 6/3/67. The inside is also stamped
with DB14K [Dawkins-Benny 14 karat]. I'm sad that it has been taken and if
it finds its way back to me I will be very happy.
I would appreciate any and all help I can get, so I decided to email this
plea to all of you, and hope that maybe you will pass it on to people on
your email list, and if sympathetic people keep passing it on maybe this
message will find its way to the person who now has my bracelet. If anyone
finds it or learns of any information that may help me to find it please
leave me a message at the halau phone.
I apologize for burdening you with my loss. Please do not feel obligated to
help or pass on this message. I am grateful that you have read it. The
more people who know about this the greater the chance that it may find its
way home.
Me ka ha'aha'a,
Mapuana de Silva
