A handful of freelance writers and photographers working for Hawai‘i magazines have put the word out to fellow freelancers and photographers about what they deem to be an unfair contract that Pacific Basin Communications, which publishes several magazines including ”Honolulu,” “Hawaii Business”, “Hawai‘i” and ”Hawaii Home,” has asked them to sign."
According to writers and photographers, the problem relates to the potential that, "at any time in the future, Pacific Basin can re-publish your freelance story or photograph in any of its present or future publications without being obligated to pay you any additional fee."
