    Anyone with insight on:

why a 105.7 translator for KRTR? I'm listening from the East
side of Kailua-Kona and hear each station equally well

why put KLUA on 93.9 when KIKI is there from Honolulu...
    considering that many Honolulu FMs - 92.3, 93.1, 102.7. 104.3, etc
make it over to Kailua Kona, why block that one and meanwhile
some frequencies seem completely vacant over here?

A similar problem exists on Maui. Maui has KJMD FM 98.3 which blocks Honolulu's KDNN FM 98.5.

Before KJMD used those call letters, it was KMVI-FM on Maui. What a great station!
L.D. Reynolds, the mellowest DJ on the Valley Isle, held court there. Nick Jackson was Program Director.

All things change and so did KMVI-AM and FM.

Wonder where L.D. Reynolds might be as well as Nick Jackson, aka Michael Raker.

L.D. had an online radio show. IIRC, he was sidelined with heart surgery mid 2005. Sorry, I don't have any info beyond that.

The last time I was on the Big Island (Dec. 2005) I could have sworn I heard L.D. on KAOI 95.1 FM out of Maui.
          I'm still here. Are you?

            tutusue and mel,
Thanks for the info about LD Reynolds. I am not surprised that he ended up with heart problems. He was on medicine to regulate low blood pressure back when I knew him...
Hope he's doing OK. He knows his music, that's a fact.
Also wouldn't doubt he had a program on 95.1 on Maui.

Now, next question...how is Barry Sharp? He's another alum of Maui radio. He's a bit younger than LD, Nick Jackson and me. Probably pushing forty. Nicest guy. Also the driest sense of humor on Maui. "Good fun!" Miss him, too.
