Former TV journalist, actor and marketing executive Bill Bigelow passed away yesterday.

Hawaii Journalist, Actor and Marketing Executive Bill Bigelow Dies Sunday Night

Bill Bigelow, 75, was involved in public speaking and broadcasting since his school days. He was named the most outstanding extemporaneous speaker in New York State as a Jamestown High School junior, and was active in debate both there and while at Colgate University.

A former U.S. Navy officer, he lived in Hawaii for over 40 years and is a well known local radio and TV journalist, having been a reporter and news anchor on KHON-TV and KGMB-TV, plus drive-time radio news anchor on KCCN and KHVH in Honolulu. He was host & producer of the popular Hawaiian music international radio program “HAWAII CALLS” in the early 1990s, and recently hosted a weekly TV program called “NOW HEAR THIS” sponsored by the Navy League of the U.S.
        I'm still here. Are you?

I'm sorry to hear about Bill's passing. We were at KGMB at the same time, and I'd seen and spoken with him at several events since then. Bill was a class act, and he will be missed.

Very sad to hear of Bill's passing. We had lunch together just last month in preparation for the story that ran just two weeks ago today. I had known he was ill, but Bill was always looking forward to the future and more projects to do. He did not let the cancer run his life. I have great respect for Bill and even greater respect for how he lived his life until the end.

You have to admit this must be a high pressure job, and who knows what else is going on in his life.
