If you are watching the new Hawaii 5-0, I recommend going to Twitter and search for the trending #h50. Honolulu's Twitteratti watch and post comments, mostly hilarious, about the episode as they watch. Try it, good fun!
catherine toth tweets through the whole thing..i don't know how she does it...

I don't know how anyone tweets or Facebooks and reads all of those updates while watching a show...and continues to follow the plot! Or is my age showing?
The closing scene - "sunset" picnic/dinner on the beach - must have been shot in the early morning (or created digitally), since that's the direction from which the sun RISES over east Honolulu.
This episode repeated tonight, I wasn't catching the dialouge much (if they were doing dinner or breakfast) but the scene started with the sun at the horizon but later when Steve and Cath were kissing the sun was much higher in the sky.

It surely distracts from what's on screen, but for those who feel that what's on screen is somewhat lacking, the online commentary adds exactly enough to make the "Hawaii Five-0" experience worthwhile. It's like a giant virtual "Mystery Science Theater 3000" meetup, and there are some quips by random viewers that are even funnier than what the writers come up with.
There are also some duds, some ridiculous party poopers (if you hate the show, why watch?), and some random spammers hoping to get your attention, but overall, it really is like watching an episode in a room full of friends.
With an app like TweetDeck, you can save "#h50" as a search column and have it display a stream of commentary on your laptop on your lap as you watch in your living room. It's awesome to see the stream light up with a flood of tweets when something big happens on screen, or when the writers or actors mangle some bit of local life.
Re: New Hawaii Five-0: Episode & Storyline Discussion
Thx, PZ. You just confirmed it's my age showing thru!!! I have the same problem watching CNN; listening to the news and trying to read the crawl at the same time. I end up missing too much of both!

tweetdeck, I gotta check that out. I've only been on twitter for less than a month.
was McGarrett allowed to go to the gate because he was 5-0? they never showed how that was allowed.
Good point.
I'm sure he'll just whip out a badge and say that he's 5-0, and he's escorting a witness to the plane. He pulled the same thing with the sheriffs at the airport when his sister first got there -"leave her to my custody, I'll take care of it".
Somehow I got the impression that titles pointing out Mary McGarret's rented house is in Kaimuki?
I just watched the episode on DVR and don't recall seeing any titles about the house, but it's actually located directly across from the old sugar mill at Kualoa Ranch.
Did notice that the golf course was in Kaimuki too (I am sure of that title).
And of course the actual golf club was the Ko`olau Country Club.
They don't seem able to control backgrounds in the Waikiki scenes. One time when they pulled up to the beachboy's stand and parked, you could see all the HPD vehicles blocking off traffic in the background. And in two separate scenes the backgrounds had several tourists taking photos of the filming going on.
Good episode. I liked it.
