I caught a glimpse of New 8's new anchor desk background. It has more than one image with a thick black border separating those images.

Yeah.. I noticed that too. It's nice to look at something finally different though.
I think it's just one of the changes they are making in their newcasts. I also think they're going to change their on-air graphics again in the near future... they've been using the current one since 2000. And they used the previous background since the newscast began in back 1995 I think, when Dan Cooke and Robert Kekaula were the first anchors there.
