    depends. if youre thinking oahu, you should probably enter the market along with a group of fellow investors. most of the land is tied either by the estates or foreign business conglomerates. if you buy a single condo, your price is essentially controlled by those who own the surrounding area [and they can afford to slash rates to force you out]. if you persist, find a family thats moving away and offer to buy. that way you avoid the fanfare of 'hi im looking to make money off real estate here', which will send off the red flags for everyone else owning real estate.

    you may also want to build a rep as a community leader. hawaii people dont mind handing the reins [and the wealth] to people who are at least moderately prominent in the community.
