    I went by there earlier and it was already packed around 2 p.m.

        We didn't go this year. After a couple of times, I figure little changes from year to year. It is beautiful, yes. Breathtaking. Moving. It's also crowded, hot, and a bit of a challenge to find a decent spot after 3 p.m. (The last time we went, we staked out a spot up front, but also had to sit around in the sun for five hours.)

        I'd like to take in another lantern floating ceremony, but figure next time we'll check out the smaller, simpler one in Haleiwa.
