  • Re: Sarah Palin - pros & cons

Haha! Not dissimilar to what Keith Olbermann did on his show. In response to a report that Gov. Palin cut funding to her state's Special Olympics, K.O. started a fund whereby he pledged to donate $100 to charity for every campaign lie that Palin uttered this week. K.O.'s staff came up with 37 lies, so true to his word, K.O. wrote out a check for $3,700,..... to the Alaska Special Olympics.

Latest development in the Troopergate probe: Gov. Palin claimed her firing of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan for acts of insubordination, citing as "the final straw," an unauthorized trip to Washington DC at state expense. But a document has been revealed, showing that Palin's chief of staff did approve the trip.

            http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=5844710&page=1

This proves either one of two things, neither of which reflects well on Sarah Palin: 1) the internal communication within her administration is very poor, or 2) she's a liar.

And keep in mind, folks. The troopergate investigation has nothing to do with the behavior of Palin's ex brother-in-law. As Palin herself said, Monegan's firing had nothing to do with state trooper Mike Wooten, but it had to do with Monegan's job performance. So whenever you hear a conservative pundit yapping on and on about what a bad guy that Wooten was,...... just remember that it is not what the probe is about, despite the "troopergate" title that the media has given this investigation.

Did anyone hear about Sarah Palin's pastor being a witch hunter in Africa?

              http://timesonline.typepad.com/usele...linked-el.html

Y'know, conservative radio talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh and Michael Reagan constantly bellyache about the so-called "liberal-biased" media. Yet, I haven't heard anything about Sarah Palin being linked to this witch hunter in mainstream media outlets.

But when it came to Obama's relationship to Rev. Jeremiah Wright,..... well, y'all know how that story got played out, right?

Things I don't like about Palintology

These are just my musings... I do have a list of things I like about her but it's pretty short.

Let family and aides lobby 36 times to fire ex-brother-in-law

Won’t cooperate with Troopergate investigation, ala Bush – thinks she is above the law

Won’t talk to the media beyond a couple of interviews

Wants to take polar bears off endangered species list

Wants to drill, drill, drill in ANWR - feels we can drill our way off foreign oil

Fires former staff and hires those loyal to her

Asked librarian three times about banning books, then fired her

Believes in abstinence only sex education

Feels pregnancies due to rape or incest must be carried to term

Forced women to pay $1200 for rape kits

Willing to go to war against Russia over Georgia

Got her first passport last year.

                        Not qualified to be president.

Misrepresents (i.e. plane sold on eBay)

Compensates for her lack of experience with brashness and excessive decisiveness

Supported/cancelled Bridge to Nowhere (but kept the money)

                        Her church supports “converting gays”

                        Wants creationism taught alongside evolution

                        Quotes Nazi sympathizer Westbrook Pegler

Palin's transparency proposal already exists in D.C. The bill that put it online was sponsored by Senator Barack Obama.

Alaska turning blue might be overstating the situation a bit, but there's no questioning that Gov. Palin is really putting her popularity and political clout in the state to the test.

As that article nicely sums up (and is corroborated by other news sources and blogs), it is the McCain campaign, more than anything else, to blame for the politicization of the Troopergate investigation. McCain operatives were the ones who trumped up charges against the Democrats in the Alaskan legislature of turning Troopergate into a partisan vendetta. And it was McCain's people who painted all Alaskan Republicans supportive of the probe as being part of the corrupt "good ole boys network" who had an axe to grind with Palin. This has made a whole bunch of Alaskan lawmakers, both Republican and Democrat, very angry over being portrayed by the national media in a way that they feel is unfair and undeserved.

Many political commentators have talked about Sarah Palin as being a GOP star on the rise, even should McCain lose. But if those same folks took a closer look into what is happening in the 49th state, they would realize Palin has indeed spent much of her political capital and goodwill into this vice-presidential run. Should the McCain/Palin ticket lose, what will the Alaska governor be returning to? A disgruntled legislature, as well as an electorate and local media that has felt alienated by having to deal with McCain campaign officers in order to communicate and conduct business with Gov. Palin. What good will Palin's newfound national fame be if her homestate popularity and approval rating plummets and she fails to win a second term as governor? If that happens, the GOP's newest star in 2008 becomes their biggest dud in 2010.
