I present myself to the GOP as a woman, and I repeat, woman, who has held a passport for thirty-eight years, a lip gloss-wearing soccer-volleyball-softball-gymnastics mom of five, who can carry a six-pack home to her husband like nobody's business, whose will is firmly aligned with God's will, a neo-natal conservative and legally savvy public figure, a border-watching, trigonometry-credited, breastfeeding, BlackBerry-tapping, cat-throwing maverick whose daughters are out of their teens, therefore immune to teenage pregnancy (although this is a private, family matter), and whose dad's head (or an eerie facsimile) adorns a state airline.

Exonerated? The scathing report simply affirmed Palin's constitutional right as governor to terminate state police commissioner Walt Monegan. Palin could have fired him because she simply didn't like the color of his tie. It will be up to Alaskans to decide if the governor had just cause in making her decision to give Monegan his walking papers.

Already, the Troopergate investigation has taken its toll on Palin's popularity in her home state.

Just as Sarah Palin's reputation as a govt. reformer has taken a hit with the release of the Troopergate report, another scandal potentially looms. Who built Sarah & Todd Palin's house? Was it the same people who were awarded the contract to build the Wasilla Sports Complex while Palin was the town's mayor?

Recall that Alaska Senator Ted Stevens has been indicted on charges that he accepted more than a quarter of a million dollars worth of renovation work on his house from an oil company. If it turns out that the Palins also received a sweetheart deal on their home from the same companies that did work on the sports complex, that would totally wreck the "maverick" image that the governor has cultivated for herself.

Pundits were talking about Palin being a leading candidate for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012, should McCain lose this year? I would say that Sarah Barracuda had better not look too far ahead because she may have her hands full trying to get re-elected as governor in 2010.
