Another Bush advisor apologized for allowing the 16 words on the Niger uranium claim to be kept in the State of the Union Address. Stephan Hadley, President Bush’s deputy national security advisor, and top aid to National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, made the announcement today, iterating the fact that he had apologized to Bush on Monday about the mixup. It was mentioned that Hadley offered to resign but the offer was not accepted by Bush (Another Apology, No Resignations)

NPR.org, December 4, 2007 · Former CIA Director Robert Gates is almost certain to win confirmation quickly as the next defense secretary, if for no other reason than that he isn't Donald Rumsfeld.
The Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1999* was signed into law by the President on October 20, 1998. Among its provisions, the Act directed that the Headquarters compound of the Central Intelligence Agency located in Langley, Virginia, shall be known and designated as the "George Bush Center for Intelligence ."

...... Activities included a ceremony which included remarks by then Director of Central Intelligence George J. Tenet, Representative Rob Portman, and President Bush; a wreath-laying ceremony at the Central Intelligence Agency’s Memorial Wall; a reception for the Bush family; and informal remarks by President Bush to Agency employees.

The Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bushes administrations can seemingly never fail to be able to suck one after the other yet-to-be-fried US War Criminals from these criminal administrations into stepping out of the shadow$ to "loyally" accrue more US War Crimes for a new century.

Would that the U.S. Government --instead of employ, promote and indemnify its own homegrown war criminals (not to exclude US's Henry Kissingers, Otto Reichs and Binny Netanyahus) -- ,,,would that the U.S. Government prosecute its own war criminals as enthusiastically as it has Iraq's Saddam Hussein and militant anti-terrorUSt$ !!

An allegory for the state of affairs that the White House is facing right now...the part of the video (click on "Marine unfazed by falling tree" from the main videopage) that isn't shown is when, a few seconds after the tree fell over, a guy wearing what looked like a National Park Service uniform approaches the tree, walks almost completely around it and then disappears off camera. Then a couple of seconds later, he returns with about 3 other uniformed people who also walk around the tree and then finally pick the tree up and place it upright again...all the while the Marine standing guard has not flinched a muscle or batted an eyelash. Reminds me of the British Bobbys who stand at attention no matter what's done to them.

          George Bush: Harry Truman?

George W. Bush, our 43rd President, plagued with ever plunging popularity in this country and elsewhere, has been quoted as believing his legacy to the Presidency will be noted by historians as being similar to 33rd US President Harry S. Truman who also suffered from low popularity but over time has become one of the most admired of our country's leaders. INOTINKSO.

                The Scooter Libby Trial

Well, things are going to start getting verrrry interesting now that the Scooter Libby trial has started. On the very first day of the trial (today) lots of things have already come to light (most of which the public had already had some inkling of). The trial is expected to take 6-8 weeks, and VP Cheney is expected to be called to testify.

And here are descriptions of the jurors who are sitting for this trial. It's a wonder that they were able to find 16 people who were unpredjudiced enough to serve!

Indeed. The most recent poll shows a 65% DISapproval rating.

                    Whee!

Just got an email notifying me that one of the State of WA's local legislators is planning to introduce a resolution this coming Wednesday (Happy Valentine's Day, W!) requesting that the State of Washington petition the US House of Representatives to proceed with the Articles of Impeachment against Pres. Bush.

Don't know how far this will get, but I do know that there are at least 3 or 4 other State legislatures that are submitting similar resolutions. How refreshing that our elected representatives are actually starting to listen to the voters! Let's see what Pelosi et al do with these petitions, since they declared in January that the impeachment question was "off the table."

Re: The Bush Watch - Chapter 3

Are we really to believe that the White House had a little electronic "oopsie" that resulted in the deletion of up to FIVE MILLION emails related to conversations in the White House between key officials like Karl Rove? Even worse, are we gullible enough to think that the White House didn't think using the email servers of the Republican National Committee while discussing national business was not kosher?

I think the White House has some serious 'splaining to do...under court subpoena. I see some "interesting times" ahead for Karl Rove and the embattled Ferdo Gonzalez... This is the electronic equivalent of the 18-minute gap in the Nixon tapes. Sen. Patrick Leahy, head of the Senate Judiciary Committee must have been born in Missouri too...he's not taking the bait and wants those emails found post haste.

                        The President gets wiggy

The President helped celebrate Malaria Awareness Day in Washington, DC today at the White House. Among the invited guests was a troupe of dancers from West Africa. Watch this video and see George get down with the beat. I guess I didn't realize that the US was plagued by this disease. Gin and tonics, anyone?

Well, I guess the Commerce Dept. doesn't have very many patriots among its ranks:

Heeding President Bush's recent appeal for government civilians to serve stints in Iraq helping with the embattled rebuilding mission, Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez sent an agency-wide memo last week imploring workers to sign up for a year in Iraq.

...Gutierrez noted that volunteers would work "under challenging circumstances with access to few amenities." On the bright side, he said, they "may" be eligible for overtime pay -- "35 percent hardship pay and up to 35 percent danger pay differentials."

...Since Gutierrez sent the memo five days ago to all of the approximately 39,000 employees at Commerce, he has received 40 responses. The department would not say how many -- if any -- of those responses were "yes."

...At least one agency within Commerce, the National Weather Service, seemed less than enthusiastic about lending its weather forecasters to the Iraqi rebuilding effort for 12 months.

"By pulling people out of the Weather Service, that would be a degradation of service," said National Weather Service spokesman Dennis Feltgen, a career employee. "We don't have the surplus of meteorologists who would be able to just drop everything and go overseas for a year."
Geez. A 0.1% response to a plea for patriotic employees to come to the aid of their President and country? Not even the possibility of making lotsa money is swaying these folks. So much for making sacrifices for the war effort.
Speaking of the President, he sure looked mighty uncomfortable in that monkey suit with the white tie last night as he wined and dined with the Queen of England.

Was that when he congratulated her for being there when America celebrated independence in 1776? Then WINKED at her?

No wonder the US is so poorly thought-of in today's world - with that buffoon as our chief representative.
