In relatively modern times, the precise sword they used would be the shamshir, which as I understand is also the "generic" Persian word for sword. There are also legendary swords such as Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegar and Nader Shah's Sword. I imagine they all had very high DPS.
In ancient times, the Acinaces was commonly used by the Persian military.
And for everyone who didn't know, only approximately 3% of Iranians are Arab. Most are of Persian ethnicity.
