  • Mega CD player!

The Brennan JB7 CD player can give near instant access to your entire CD collection in a small and powerful package.
Still reading up on it, but it seems pretty cool.

    Re: Mega CD player!

I just rip them into MP3 from a number of free rippers available at Download.com and play them directly from my computer. By networking one computer as a media server or go more sophisticated such as this gem that'll do even HD video, you can make virtually any computer into a home theater base. With a good PCI or USB AV setup, you can send AV thru optical or even HDMI to your home theater system for true digital sound.

Or simply use the speaker outputs of your sound card (headphone jack on laptops) and plug directly into your home stereo/HT setup and get pretty good sound from just a 3.5mm stereo to L/R RCA patch cord available at Radio Shack, WalMart, Home Depot or virtually anyplace selling audio patch cords. Heck I rummage thru the wire piles at the Salvation Army.

Interesting. Looks like that Brennan component is targeted towards people who do not want to deal with using a PC to rip files from CDs/MP3 players. It's more portable than a laptop. And the higher capacity (320 GB) players allow you to rip well over 3,000 CDs with no compression, which would make the discriminating folks with golden ears happy.

A nifty thing for a PC-phobic audiophile to have,.... if one is willing to pay for the hefty price tag.

That just makes me want to cry. Listening to MP3's that is . As far as the cords go - definitely the way to go. But, but...... just listen to one song through your computer (MP3 version) and then switch over to the CD version. And if that doesn't convince you, tell me the song and I'll get graphical representations of each to show you.

Oops - just had to do it - too enticing...... and for the record (ha,ha) I regularly listen to my iPod.............
